Each photo & video described.
These videos are meant to be educational but also funny, so if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask!

0:00 Intro
0:05 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 2WD. The transmission and engine mounts were damaged/worn, so the previous owner used chain and ratchet straps to keep everything in place + try and reduce vibrations. Good reason to always get an inspection before purchasing any vehicle.
0:16 Chevrolet Avalanche. The shop couldn’t open the door without possibly damaging the door, so the customer did not get the door latch installed.
0:28 Shop told the customer to take it to the “mechanic” they bought the car from since the exhaust was hacked together. Otherwise, it would just need some new exhaust pipe and hangers welded then it would be fine.
0:43 Blown out rear shocks on a BMW E90. Shocks need to be replaced.
0:56 “That was a 5.0 Jaguar naturally aspirated on a 2013 XJ with a little over 110k miles / 177027 kilometers on it.”
Oil was leaking from the backside of the valve cover. The silicone was cleaned off and valve cover gaskets were installed.
1:12 No extra info.
1:24 Why it’s always important to inspect u-joints + grease them every service. Also, they are fairly cheap to replace, so replace them when needed! The technician did not mention what the customer will be doing with the vehicle but that will be an expensive fix!
1:42 No extra info.
1:54 “Drove over A rock on an interstate in PA. The customer’s insurance covered the damage.” They didn’t mention the model Cadillac it was.
2:09 “Feedback from the blower to the right-hand tweeter. 2018 Hyundai Tucson with 7 miles/12 kilometres, that a car rental place just bought.”
2:24 The mechanic said it didn’t have the oil cap, and 3 spark plug wires were cut and tapped on the end. He also drained the engine oil and there was a lot of fuel in it so he believes the customer was driving around for a while with his engine running very rough.
2:35 Shop refused to install the tires, as they told the customer it was not safe and they don’t want to be liable for anything.
2:44 “Customer was told not to drive it and he drove away with it.”
Outer tie rod ends were duct-taped, missing lug nuts, the radiator support was broken, rear strut mounts were broken and spray foamed together, rusty undercarriage, rear trailing arm mounts chained to the mount, and a whole lot more.
3:08 2010 Subaru Impreza, rusted out sub-frame where lower control arms bolts to it.
3:16 “BAE Systems Caiman MRAP law enforcement conversion that I personally unfitted with emergency equipment for my employer.”
3:25 Outro. Thanks for watching!

  1. Regarding the valve cover ‘repaired’ with RTV. I used to work as a service advisor at a Chevy dealership. One day, I got a call from a person who still had an oil leak after replacing their intake manifold gasket on a 5.7l V8. I started asking questions, yes, he used a GM gasket kit, yes, he cleaned the intake and mating surfaces on the cylinder heads. Then I asked if he used RTV sealer on the front and back lips of the galley.
    “What?”
“Did you use Rubber Type Valve sealer?”
    “What?”
“Permatex. Did you use Permatex in the from and back of the lifter galley?”
    “Yes. I used Permatex.”
By them I was pretty sure of the source of the leak even without seeing the car. But there was one more question to ask. “Once you put the manifold back on, did you let the Permatex cure overnight?”
“Sure! I put the Permatex on, let it cure overnight, then put the intake back on.”
    “There’s your leak.”

  2. Thing what gets me is if you are buying a used motor you would at least look around it and underneath it before buying it, the amount of people that buy car that has rusted through is on structural components frightening

  3. So, you can drive around in anything in the USA? Don't you have yearly MOT inspections there which your car has to pass?
I don't get it? Some of these dodgy thing are obviously been there longer than a year

  4. How many of you pay for insurance, which is supposed to pay for property damage, no insurance payments ever go to the municipalities for replacement of their property?

  5. Hell, those cars are on the street legally? I am european, we have to pass technical inspections every 2 years. That would scare me in daily traffic with my kids in the car, wouldn't have a relaxed feeling while commuting.

  6. Me thinking im neglecting my car by going a few hundred miles over my oil and putting off my pads for another week, watching these videos makes me feel much better about myself

  7. The first clip reminds me of my late stepson when he was in his early 20s. He purchased his first car, a used one, and he didn't get it inspected first. When we lifted the hood, the engine block was being held in place by a spiderweb of hemp rope!

  8. when you buy a car and the advert says owned by a mechanic this is what it means (first car) buy a car that has a dealership stamp for servicing once a year, there are so many second-hand cars for sale now don't buy one off someone who can't afford to maintain it, cars are expensive to maintain properly, especially german and Swedish cars (thinking UK Audi BMW Mercedes) there are loads of cheap mercs and BMWs for sale now and they're nearly all junk, I've looked at many german cars thinking of buying, I put a pry bar in the linkages, ball joints, bushes and there like jelly, Ford, Vauxhall, and the European cars are cheap to maintain in comparison, Citroen, Peugeot and Seat tend to be good second-hand buys if they've been looked after, the german stuff is nice when new and terrible after 50K miles

  9. The USA needs a regular vehicle inspection system on the lines of the UK's MOT or the German TÜV systems.
Also some legislation to ensure that when a vehicle is sold, it complies to a minimum standard of road-worthyness.

  10. I found this channel couple days ago and I am diving in it. I just can't belive in these repair methods – it is mix of an artism and drugs/alcohol. I live in Poland quite poor country in eastern Europe and we have much more safer cars on roads! It is little bit amazing an distracting. World is so non-uniform (I am not sure if it is adequate word).

  11. That one with all the hose clamps on the exhaust, reminds me of my first vehicle when I was a teenager…I didn't have much money, but I had access to hose clamps, no-hub bands for cast iron sewer pipe, and pieces of sheet metal, so it looked pretty much the same as this one did, lol.

  12. When people wonder why the USA is getting so messed up one only has to look at videos like these and social media as a whole. It becomes very clear how damn worthless and stupid Americans have became.

  13. Most of these would never happen in the EU. We have mandatory inspections. Every two years for most cars. If it fails it, the car can't be driven until fixed up. Some of these would be deemed totaled and couldn't be given permits at all.

  14. i used to work at an emissions checking equivalent, some people are just plain disgusting, gross, negligent and stupid:
we were given the option to just use our jeans with a emissions testing shirt or use an overall, after gettin on cars that smelled of piss, more than once and my clothing got impregnated of the smeel, i would always use the overall.
one prick once rolled an old Tracker that seemed was never washed, not only smelled of piss, but wet dog, cigarettes, and there was a peach pit on the ashtray that was not only moldy, but seemed that it was blooming.
also, the only one time i made use of my fire extinguisher knowledge, an old suburbar came in, emitting tons of smoke, while testing it only got worse, turns out, the smoke was very likely some oil leak that was falling on the exhaust and caught fire while on the test
