I recently found the VHS tape of my first video edit from 1991 that led to the creation of the Mischief series in 2002. It’s basically a montage of 80s and 90s car footage from various TV shows, news reports, and movies. This was made over 30yrs ago and I was 13/14yrs old at the time. This is part 1 of the 50 min video. The 2014 song “Days of Thunder”, by The Midnight, was the inspiration for posting this video. Some of the edits were moved around to go with this particular song.
BACKSTORY:
I edited my first video montage over 30 years ago using two videocassette players (VCRs) in my parent’s living room. It took me about a year to compile the clips. I used a VCR to record random tv shows and movies for hours at a time hoping to get cool car footage.
I recently found this VHS tape and to my surprise, it still works! The only problem is that the audio is missing. Actually, I didn’t have the capability of dubbing audio onto the VHS tape back then. I had to record the songs for the video onto a cassette tape instead. I had to start the VCR and tape player at the same time to sync everything up. Unfortunately, the original cassette tape is missing. I only remember a couple songs that I used for the original edit.
Recently, I discovered a band called The Midnight. The song “Days of Thunder” inspired me to release this video. Some of the clips have been rearranged for the song.

That wreck at 4:45 was epic. Dude completely obliterated part of the infield, took out the 76 sign and destroyed spectator cars.
That’s awesome!
This was fantastic, like a time capsule.
So that's where that Fast and the Furious movie got that skyscraper jump from…
Very cool and nostalgic. How old were you at the time?
I was fortunate that when I got really interested into mixing third-party videos, we had just broken through the ability to digitally download everything using websites/software. I couldn't imagine doing it through VHS mixing haha
Nostalgia

I’m still working on the “Mischief 20th Anniversary – Savage Garage” edit. Part of the delay is that I traveled to Japan in January for the Tokyo Auto Salon. Also, if Feb, I competed in the upcoming Amazon Prime show “Banging Gears”. The theme of the show is supercars vs modified cars. The car I used was a R8 V8. I posted tons of BTS footage and photos on IG: https://www.instagram.com/mischieftelevision/
The Amazon show is hosted by Mr JWW, Adam LZ, and Collete Davis. Tons of famous car people competed! Tanner Foust, Mad Mike, Chris Forsberg, Ryan Tuerck, The Hamilton Collection, Dragtimes, Rob Ferretti, 1016 Industries, Dean Karnage, Rob Dahm, and many more. Over 80 cars featured! Its scheduled to be released in the summer.
The 45 min Mischief Anniversary special will be done in a week or two
