50 thoughts on “I Spent 24 Hours with a Communist Car

  1. These young men probably have no camping experience… Or purposely due preference for fast and simpke setup….🤔😆 Amyway, That Lada Niva is actually a decently built 4×4 little SUV… Perfect for outdoor activities especially camping

  3. I owned a 1600cc Carbureted 1995 Lada Niva the same creamy-white colour as the car in this video and although it was definitely ‘Agricultural ‘ in the quality of its build-finish, it was, Also, ..indestructible..!
I remember the Cabin Heater that you couldn’t turn completely Off, until I installed a separate ‘manually operated in-line Control Valve’ in the heater Hose under the Engine Bonnet/Hood, and I remember a couple of things that stuck, in my mind, when I first read, the comprehensive, Owners Handbook, that came with it, like, ..”Maximum suggested Climb Approach Angle 53 Degrees” and ..”It is suggested to Garage the vehicle when the outside Temperature Exceeds, MINUS, 40 Degrees Centigrade”…! 😳
I think it was somewhere in the early 1990’s from memory, just after Lada first appeared for Sale in Australia when they entered a single, Lada Niva, in a then, much advertised, 4-WD Rally to Race the 1,800 kms from the Qld / NSW Border to the very Tip of Cape York and All of the other Big Major 4-WD Makers were also entered in the Race as well of course, and everyone Laughed, at the ‘little Niva’ ..BUT, Guess ..Who, WON, the Race..? 😮
Yes, the ‘little Lada Niva’ that they had All, at First, ..laughed at, WON it ..DECIDEDLY, by a Large Margin, while many, of the other Major Brands, Failed, to Even Finish…!
Strangely, after the ‘little Lada’ that everyone had laughed at before the Race, WON, the Race, All, of the Noisy, Advertising, of the Race, that had preceded it at the beginning, Suddenly ..went ..Very Quiet..! 🤨😁😂🤣😂
Sometime later I remember one of the Lada Dealers saying, ..”Nyet, Nyet, We do not bother making better Roads, in Russia, We ..Just, ..make TOUGHER TRUCKS…!! 😉😁😂🤣😂

  4. Handling like tractors? Man tractors handle way better than many cars..at least the tractors that we have here in india.. mahindra tractors they don't have any suspension what so ever..they have very precise and sharp analog steering..and that's why they feel like a go kart..and brakes are too very confidence inspiring..i drive these excellent machines at least 5..6 hours daily

  5. call me russian bot,but this is the car that 90% of Rural American need
they don't need to spend 60 Grand on Ford 150
and that car is not ugly either,G WAGON is much uglier than this car, considering the price and reliability

  6. Lada Niva! Amazing little car. I have a 1993 model! Born in Russia, but rebuilt by parts from Ukraine! 🇺🇦 Raced off road in Morocco 3 times now and I love it! 🤍

  7. Guys you don’t jump start a manual car! You just roll and kick start it. By the way throwing support to Ukraine was kind of odd while enjoying a Soviet relic.

  8. Original борщ (borshch) must be based on meat and bone broth with meat peaces or, if you cannot eat meat for some reason, it can be with beans and wild mushrooms. Add carrots too it makes better taste. You can fry carrot with onion and salo (pork fat). Also we add some tomato paste for little sour. You can add some spices as garlic, black pepper, bay leaf and paprika. And boil it at least 2 hours for better taste (it is optional). In former times before tomatoes in Ukraine it was used beet kvass (fermented beet juice with water) to make sour taste.

  9. Variety of Borscht

Ukrainian Cooked with pork. At the end, add a dressing of pounded lard with garlic. Served with pampushky (garlic bread rolls).

Russian (Moscow-style) Made with beef. May include sauerkraut and smoked meats. Served with rye bread.

Polish (White Borscht) Made with a rye flour sourdough starter (żur). Has a white color. Cooked with sausage and eggs.

Lithuanian (Cold Borscht) Served cold. Made with kefir or beet broth. Adds cucumbers, dill, and hard-boiled eggs.

  10. I could see this being a cool platform for a Moab type of build. I’d bet you could get a good amount of XJ parts to work on it.

  11. You should do a video with Maruti 800. It is a car in India with an 800cc 3 cylinder engine. It is now discontinued but it majorly came with a 4 gears setup but in the year 2000, they had launched a model with 5 speed gearbox which was later discontinued in around the same year and the 4 gear model continued till the year 2014.

  12. PRIVATE EQUITY BOUGHT OUT THIS CHANNEL. I trust YouTubers more than news but 4bil spent by private equity to continue lobbying and fucking over the American population. F*** this channel

  13. Rangers still use this tragedy in Eastern Europe. It’s the only cheap thing that survives 200k km exclusively off-road. PS Thank you for supporting Ukraine! Y’all are good blokes!

  14. In Bulgaria, the Niva is considered the car that can get you in and out of the forest. Because we asosiate the forest roads as being, uneven, run down, often overgroun or broken by water streams, with huge rocks and deep tracks in them.

  15. Ugly? Meh. I bet 100$ that there is no Western person in the world who wouldn't make some reservations about Soviet car beforehand to save face. It's not socially acceptable to praise soviet cars, so you must make some beforehand stipulations: ugly, stupid, weird, crazy, what have you.

And borscht is no necessarily Ukrainian. It has mixed Slavic ancestry.

  16. My father have 2 niva in the 90's. One base model and one kossak witch was the "best trim" with running board and fake leather cover for the base model seat. It was basically one day off road = one week repair. Transmission last 50000 km. the older one we got had a crank start handle in the front engine😂

  17. I have a 1996 lada niva in chile…great vehicle..and although not made for long distance i have travaled distance over 3000 km in my niva at a average speed of 90 km/h and absolutly no problem at all

  18. Thank you for supporting Ukrainians! That’s mean a lot!
Unfortunately The Soviet Union created a dome because of which we have never seen such wonderful cars as Dodge, Chevrolet, Ford and so on, and that is why we have such a culture and love for these cars, because we did not know anything else.
