Swapped quite a few of those back in the day (03-08ish) in S13’s & S14s. red tops, black tops, and a bluebird fwd one in my buddy’s Sentra SER. Most came from front clips. Jarco is right down the road from me and they had tons of front clips.

People hate it? I've seen way more hate for the 4G63 and its crank-walkin' ways.
I've never seen anyone hate the SR20, probably because it's a good torquey motor with a strong track record.
Sorry ya but the sr20 is not a bad motor nor does it get a lot of hate. You know what does? Any Hyundai motor, any ford, any gmc, any newer chevy, the bp4w from the miata, the vq35 for sounding like a trumpet, and the KA24DE
Rage bait. SR20 isn't hated. It's a lot of dudes that don't prep and build them properly that are hating. At this point the bang for buck calculation hurts the SR as an option though. It's a cool engine but not 6k for a used junkyard motor worth of cool.
