More shite by the Jonathan’s , it's a wonder they don't say they invented Le Mans and have done all the winning , I can't stand listening to them !
Slamming past a guy on the grass at 130 right before a hairpin is absolute insanity. I so badly wish video cameras were used at the time.
Sorry for nitpicking here, but I believe the Mercedes was actually a SSK. The K stands for Kompressor = Supercharger in German
Another good story teller on this channel. Good stuff
After he used, the word superfluous I went to the comments 😂
According too W.O. Bentleys Autobiographies, the Bentley Boys used too call W.O. 'The Headmaster' at parties when saluting him with drinks
these gentlemen racing drivers were genuinely cool dudes and they used too know how too party, fast cars, faster women, cold champagne, and great times, modern racing with its rules (written by germans and prudes) is very boring
The Bentley Speed6 is the ultimate Supervillain car: it oozes menace
You have do do a quick reel on the British Government Taxing over square engines (Short Stroke), t
This lead to keeping long stroke engines far too long and with the short stroke Japanese Engines making and appearance was another nail in the coffin of the UK Production Motor industry, Along with Dereck Robinson and his personal funding from the Soviet Union.
Any relation to Jane Birkin?
Very nice.
Heck yeah, more pre wwii content. So much history that no one knows anything about anymore
❤❤❤
Great story teller. 🙏🏼
put the "greatest racing driver to ever live" in a modern race car and he'll have an aneurism. I get racing was really cool back then, but even mundane street cars today would run literal circles around the "race cars" from back then… which were really closely related to the street cars of back then. you can't say "greatest racing driver to ever live" about someone who has never even driven a quick car before. the faster a car gets, the bigger difference there is between mere mortal and truly great drivers. All you need to do is look at Max and any of his team mates… your guy from pre-war wouldn't even be able to complete a lap in Max's car. I'm sure he was great for the time, but his skill was never truely tested for an "of all time" title.
Lookout, Ficarra
The pronunciation is brutal. We're confiscating the English language, you can use French – they need the money.
Gay
Know someone that has a 27 le mans sat in his garage , worth a mint and he drives it , parked next to his Vincent black shadow motor bike . Calls them his retirement funds
Can you get Jerry Seinfeld on next?
WOW – never heard "Caracciola" pronounced that badly before, fair play chap.
Honestly what do we think about doing "vinhistory" channel? Like i feel like the biographical stories deserve their own channel and effort
Probably
YAWN zzzzzzzz Like watching paint dry with an audio track
Greg and John Ficarra need a combo racing history episode, amirite?
The balls on these guys had to be huge, doing 130 mph in basically an open coffin!
Ohh, looks like we got a contender for John Ficarra in auto history.
We all win. 😁
great story! these guys must’ve eaten Concrete for breakfast to get in those cars and drive them that long at those speeds. crazy
Watch the Rowan atkinson short film Full Throttle, all about the blower bentley, tim birkin and that era of racing👌👌
I love this era!
What a great story, well told. Big thx from Germoney.
For me these historic clips are the perfect counterweights to Christofers (unbelievable) road trip experiences.
Greg is a great storyteller. Can’t wait to hear him share more Bentley stories.
Interesting, and entertaining! Has Randy Ema been considered for a story? I'd bet Evan Ide has some interesting stories, too.
Pre war racing was absolutely wild! Also, the Brooklands museum is fantastic.
As a relative of Woolf, proud and happy to see the appreciation of his legacy.
Greg is absolutely correct. Whenever I think of Bentley, that big, beautifully curved radiator shroud with a honking great blower clinging to the nose instantly comes to mind. And the bloody legends who were The Bentley Boys Mega content.
You had me at passing @ 127 mph in the grass. 😎
Pre war content is awesome!!
I am very tempted to chase a Le Mans bodied Bentley!
It's hard to get much cooler than vintage Bentley racing stories! Thanks for stopping by.
