29 thoughts on “How to Survive a Grow Room Power Outage | FTS Clips

  1. Nice topic. I’d like to add a little tip. Sometimes the power goes out at night for a few minutes at random and if you’re using timers it’s a good idea to check them daily to see if they’re still reflecting the correct time sync. My power went out while I was at work for three hours one day and if it weren’t for my fish tank filter being off when I got home I’d never have even known that my tent was now 3 hours behind. One brief light interruption mid veg is no big deal but being off by 3 hours would make a difference if discovered weeks later.

  2. i have 2 UPS on my tents. actually just happened yesterday morning right before i was going to work. but i didnt worry cus i had the battery backup. my wifi went down so i couldnt check the ac infinity app for a bit but every thing stayed on. my power usually isnt out for more than a few hours not days.

  3. Just a thought for those that can; If you're growing in a tent try to set your light cycle to actual daylight hour's, this way you have a chance at moving your plants to the light if the power goes out. Also it helps if your tent is in a room that gets well lit by the sun via windows during the day.
I'm lucky enough that the lung room in my basement hast two large windows that I can just pull the shades up, and I can allow the light to shine in through the rear opening in my tent. And for some odd/lucky reason my room stays at 55-60 degrees (F) and humidity fluctuates between 35-50% year round. It might get a little colder without power for multiple days in the winter, but I have a portable space heater that is run by propane and rated for indoor use.

All that being said, I just have strawberries in my tent right now, as I can't legally grow here in Ohio (Yet). I can't wait for the end of November to come fast enough for us to get our vote in legalizing Adult Use. And our Rhino's are staunchly against Adult use, and to the point of trying to change the number of vote's needed to pass it from simple majority to super majority, basically from 51% to 61%.
In the meantime I'm getting my practice in adjusting and maintaining my tent environment. (Battery backup for my oscillating fan would be nice). 🤔

  4. This has happened to me way too many times. The worst one was out of power for 36 hours and the basement that had my 3 tents in it flooded with 1-2" of water as it was out long enough for the battery backup on the sump pump to die. Temps in the 50s and humidity in the 90s but they were still able to bounce back. It was a giant pain in the ass though. Getting a generator this year.

  5. I have a power bank for my aeroponics so my plants still my plants don't die, can go 2 days, stretched into a week if I only watered roots once an hour instead of every 5 minutes….

  6. Our lights went out multiple times during the winter cycle. It was random times and on random days. It ended up causing veg plants to all flower. They are now going through a reveg. One thing to mention is getting a power supply for your controllers/timers. Once lights kick on the system don’t reset always and this can cause
major problems especially if your not watching it every day. If you travel or work out of town it’s more important.

  7. Just had the power out for 12 hrs right after lights on. And I’m in early and late veg… couldn’t just let it go like P said so I got a nice jump starter kit with ac plug ins and it ran my lights on low for a really long time!! Good to have in the car anyways!

  8. I'm from Johannesburg
    South Africa.
We have rolling blackouts 7.5/12 hours daily! due to corruption and so on…

I had to install a solar system for my grow,
Luckily the system is big enough to carry my grow and entire house.
(my family thinks I installed it for them 😅😂)

No fun stressing about the girls during power outages

  9. They make wind turbines that save compressed air to spin the generator when there's no wind they don't mention that part also they actually have spring tension wind up generator and many other ways to use electricity

  10. Pigeons. As an internet friend. Buy a freakin generator if you live in Canada. Australian here.

    Regardless of your garden buddy.

Also isn’t a few hours dark hours ok as it’s similar to heavy cloud cover etc
