Cars in the 80s got smaller than the previous decade. It was also a decade of change in the auto industry. New safety standards were put into cars and the materials used in the body and interior changed. The beginning of the decade saw boxy cars but by the end of the decade the cars started to have a more aerodynamic look. There are many cars from this decade that are now highly desired. In this video we will have a look at some 1980s snapshots of people with cars.

  1. 0:57 I had that Thunderbird Fila edition and I absolutely loved it. I was at a dealership looking at something else when the truck pulled in with a shipment of cars, I told the salesman "that's the one I want" before it was unloaded. I filled out the paperwork and paid cash before I even saw the inside or drove it. It was a great car (I drove it for many years until someone hit and totaled it. I would never buy a car that way now for two reasons 1 I can't afford it 2 I think all new cars today look alike regardless of manufacturer and they're all shite.

  2. There’s only a handful of cars that I love from the 80’s- Corvette of course, Camaro IROCs , Trans-Am, Seville, Pontiac Grand Prix and Grand Am(late 80’s), RX-7, Supra and 300ZX, BMWs, Ferraris, Lamborghini Countach, Honda Prelude and CRX , Mustang 5.0 , The rest were nice but just bad build quality and unreliable. My first car was a ‘75 Cutlass that I bought in 1980, then I bought new Mazda 626 Coupe in 1986, wish I could post a pic here..

  3. My mom had an 85 chevette, I was almost killed in it, a top heavy 18 wheeler ran a red light and swerved to miss us, when it swerved it tipped over and flattend my moms car, my head somehow got pushed down to wear my waist was, there was a sunroof in the car, I watched an 18 wheeler slide over my head just a few inches away, they used the jaws of life to peel back the roof, I walked away with a small scratch on my neck from broken glass and a lot of rattled nerves.

  4. As a visitor to the US in the late 70's and early 80's (tourist), I always found the US cars fascinating. Never saw them anywhere else I guess. Loved the big old 'boats' like Caddies, Buicks, Oldsmobiles etc. It seems like lots of SUV's in the US now.

  5. I didn’t get to experience the 80s because I was born 97 but every time I get into my 1984 chevy Monte Carlo (that I have had since I was 15) I feel like I’m in the the 80s when I drive it.

  6. The Le Car…… Oh man they were terrible, I was a kid in the 80's and remember anyone who owned one walked or road the bus lol. awesome video soo many memories!

  7. In the 80s, I owned a ‘78 GMC High Sierra pickup, then an ‘86 Chevette CS, and then an ‘84 Fiero SE. I was able to take my parents ‘87 Turbo Grand Am GT out from time to time and their ‘89 Pontiac Sunbird GT Turbo – those were pretty quick for small cars. Great times in those vehicles.

  8. I think it is worth pointing out that this photography trend was popular in the Soviet Union too. I mean, it was 1 to 1 in the East block. While there weren't any TV shows incorporating cars as characters, the look of the ads was the same. I do miss these… Shadowy anonymous figures have almost completely taken over.

  9. Slow cars with smog restrictions and heavy bodies basically the worst cars of all time. Style was not good either. Your door is ajar chime was extremely dumb as well. The best vehicle of 80s was trucks by dodge. In my honest opinion.

  10. The 80's… where each of these photos would require dropping the film off for processing, a return trip to pick up the actual picture and a need to physically provide it to anyone you wanted to share it with often requiring a stamp and envelope…… last days of the photo processing kiosks on busy corners… last days of making sure some things were not photographed and instantly shared with the world out of fear the weird photo processing kid might make duplicates – and yes he/she often did.
