  1. I still think we're just beginning to scratch the surface with what can be done with organic growing. Guys like Charles Dowding are feeding their fruit and vegetable plants everything they need to grow bomb using no nutes at all, just an inch thick layer of compost on the beds once a year. The soil biology can free up what your plants need if you are growing in mineral soils with high organic matter. Some day we'll learn that the majority of fertilizers we're using just aren't even necessary if we change the way we grow.

  2. I got the Grandmaster Led Predator UVC bar light. Only run them for 15 minutes for a couple of days. After that, I run the for 5-7 minutes. And they'll turn off after 15 minutes for safety reasons. Also, they'll fry your plants. If they're too close to the under canopy. But then again I'll lollipop the bottom anyway. The UVC will definitely help in the flower cycle

  3. I’ll keep you guys posted my buddy just started using under canopy on a table to see if it’s worth it. The guy that told him about was pulling off almost 20k on a 4 plant pheno hunt. Wet weight of course. They make everything into hash.

  4. Uvc sterilize the bugs so they can’t reproduce. It will fry your plants. You can use supplemental uva and uvb for your plants. Uvc is very powerful. Works great to get rid of smell. I use them in my ductwork

  5. I can see the near future of growing, not necessarily in lighting but, in general will include data bases of information on the specific strains of plants telling us the best light spectrum, best nutrients, best way to grow each specific strain to get the most out of each plant, all which can be programmed into our controllers.

    UVC scares me. I'll pass.

An undercanopy test I ran over 40 years ago, by accident, led me to believe (not prove) that it is not efficient; I was growing a small plant sideways under florescent tubes, 2 above, 2 below. While away for a week the upper 2 came disconnected. When I returned the plant had twisted the leaves so that the tops of the leaves were toward the light making me believe that the light absorption is greater on the top.

    Sorry for the lengthy commennt.

  6. Nothing much has changed to led grow lights in the last few years other than they have become more efficient. Remember fellow geowers. The led / grow market needs to offer "new" products 😂 but really, it's the same product with a different package 😏. These grow companies are here to make money and are willing to sell you almost anything in an attempt to separate you from your hard earned money 💰 🤑 💸. Be vigilant my friends

  7. You are missing the entire point (Canada) 🤦. " You no longer need to strip the plants like you used to those are now very good B+ buds. Give it a couple of tries before you knock it. Otherwise, your opinion is useless.

  8. Just FYI, they use UVC light to sterilize operation rooms. And those lights might possibly also produce ozone. You can't mistake that smell for anything else. UVC breaks down your DNA with radiation. And our atmosphere filters it out. Hopefully this helps. Just look into it, I use UVC tubes for sterilizing my tent and rooms.

  9. This is only based on my experiences early on in my growing career but i was lucky enough to purchase a gavita plasma when they first came out, only light ive ever heard of the emits all 3 uv spectrums (a,b and c). The flowers growinf directly underneath the plasma were noticably frostier than all of their counterparts, smelled and tasted quite a bit better too.
I ran the plasma for the same light hours as my hid's at the time (12-12)

  10. Is peppermint essential oil the same? I never heard anyone say “essential oil”only peppermint or rosemary oil. I have peppermint essential oil but I’m scared to spray it.

  11. 7:14 I once experimented with those cheap UVC T5 ozone lamps, the 10w lamp was placed below the canopy shining upwards and it was a damp room without air exchange in autum with like 80% humidity and 15 degress c°, it was a windmill fight against botrytis at the end of flowering with giant skunk buds filling a 80×80 tent and I thought the UVC couldn't make it worse. At a few minutes to like half an hour there were no problems in terms of plant health and even when I felt asleep and the lamp was on for like 5 hours or so there was no great damage that could be linked to it. But the ozone sticks everywhere and somehow doesn't degrade into normal oxygen as fast as one would expect from the raw data, and as the plants constantly breathe they get filled with ozone and the buds smell like it for hours, and it seems to kill many aroma compounds, especially the most volatile thiol and ester stuff etc.

  12. A topic I would like to hear you talk about is how buds that have less bag appeal that smoke just as good as better looking buds. Everyone is so caught up in the game of good looking buds only. I grow some stuff that has holes in it. But it looks like it's rolled in sugar. And the effects are just as good or better than the top shelf commercial stuff from California. So I'm sitting on 1.5 lbs of fluffy buds that nobody wants.

  13. No it does not harm the trichomes if you have it at the correct distance and if it is running after dark it is likely under 10 nanomoles per meter squared per second{*during flower} usually short band diodes around 260nm-280nm and any lower nanometer is more damaging to DNA especially under 30nm which penetrates beyond the surface.

If I am being honest, under canopy lighting helps IPM even without UVC, just getting the light and temperature on the underside of leaves.

I do not lollipop and prefer 4'-5' tall. In a limited space, if you have the control of VPD:temperature:air circulation:nutrients, using under canopy can allow lower parts to ripen. Under canopy and side lighting have been working for many years for different crops grown indoor and in greenhouses.

UVC led diodes are not the most efficient but do display a systemic effect and some effect on the development of the trichome heads.

  14. Yeah, neem seed meal, diatomaceous earth, and the components to assist the plants achieve high brix. Using the 5-parts humic acid to 2-parts kelp meal. We too often forget about the plant and its natural defenses, to try and understand something else, like UV-C, that’s also a naturally occurring aspect of sunlight. Our focus needs to be more on listening to the plants.

In another video that was interviewing DLI Dutch Lighting Innovations, where the DLI rep shared the angle they approach to hear what the plant is needing. They start by looking at what the optimal plant requires for sunlight to produce the plants potential. They give it the light and monitor what the plants are eating and emitting. As opposed to trying to match the inputs to the light. Knowing that we farmers have a tendency to overuse P, they found optimal levels of growth with just 15% of the what is typically used. There’s so much more information that the plants are saying to us, we just need a different approach.

  15. Well rob I think your question about UV c to kill bug late into flower you’re are on to something I’m no scientist, but you hear about how UV makes your plant put on Trichrome like sunscreen so I would think if you introduced Uv call of a sudden out of the blue that would destroy your Turpines but if you had it there before or your plant was used to it or your plant could get used to it. I think you’ll be fine or if it was early enough in flower that your plant could produce more terps. I think you’ll be fine.
