  1. Love love LOVE everything about this! I was telling my mama I don’t feel like I was ever “introduced” to Donnie Simpson (born in 95), he’s always been there! 😂♥️♥️

  2. My mother worked in personnel at WRC/WKYS in DC when Donnie was hired from a station in Detroit. She tells some wonderful stories about meeting him for the first time. He was early 20’s, had a rep for being the best and could back it up on the air. No dj’s back then programmed like Donnie. And still don’t. He’d start a show off with playing the album version of “Get Ready” by Rare Earth. Or “Reasons” the live version. If you weren’t listening to Donnie in the morning then you weren’t plugged into the pulse of the District. He was a huge part of that. Thank you Donne. And Noochie!

  3. When something significant happened in Black entertainment, I liked hearing Donnie talk about it the next morning on the radio. Video Soul was must watch cable tv every evening. Donnie is a legend and national treasure.

  4. Living Legend. Video Soul had a huge impact on my childhood. One of my fondest memories of moving to the US from Germany. Great Interview, Donnie Simpson seems like a genuinely good guy whose stories I could listen to for hours.

  5. Front porch is one of the best platforms. We should never forget the legends of excellent music. In R&B, Soul, Jazz, Disco, Hip Hop and Godspel music🎶 🎵

  6. Donnie, Thank you so much for all you have done and the history you dropped. You are a legend and especially those eyes . . . ❤ What is unfortunate of this interview, is with all the vibes from Donnie and historical information shared, it should had a bit more enthusiasm to match. The picking cotton comment, should of provoked more inquiry, because Donnie is still young, and this was not long ago for him to be picking cotton. However, it is always good to see Donnie Simpson.

  7. Donnie! Donnie! Donnie! YOU ARE THE MAN & THE LEGEND!! Thank you for being an integral part of my childhood and into adulthood! The one thing that I love about Donnie is that he takes a geniune interest in artists and their stories! I pray you get your flowers forever!!

  8. 9. This is monumental in so many ways. I was looking at your logo as the interview was progressing and thinking this brother is going to be a new wave of BET but with better representation; like the grass roots of it and how it began not how it ended up. Appreciate everything you're doing. Donnie Simpson created everlasting memories and still dropping gems on us.

  10. This is a treasure. Donnie Simpson steered the ship for BET and Radio and made it even more fun being a kid during those times. Happy Black Music Month.

  11. My teacher in high school use to play his show on radio in the morning in class. We heard it every day !!! “ it’s Donnie Simpson show , Donnie Simpson show, Donnie in the morning ! GET UP! EVERYBODY GET UP!
