People saying sh*t like Gucci sacrificing his artist is ridiculous.
It’s not a curse or voodoo at play, the explanation is rather simple, but it’s a harsh and bitter truth:
The artists he signs come more than often from dysfunctional structures, it may start at home, in the family or with a wrong crowd of people around you. Most if not all of these artists never knew anything else in their life beside hustling, violence and addiction unfortunately. Then these same people suddenly get a major amount of money, combined with their own dysfunctional behavior and trauma, plus the need for validation and demanding respect or proving to be what they claim and you get the recipe for disaster.
A lot of people think having money suddenly makes all their problems vanish.
These are people that learned from birth to sticking to the street code.
Do you think that what has been ingrained in Someone for years just suddenly turns into thin air? Unlearning bad behaviors takes up to years, so the answer is never that simple as we would wish it to be.
What the youth, especially the young men need is a stable household and guidance, because in some communities that’s missing. Also the glorification of violence is crazy. Sure, back in the 90s and 2000s there was a lot of violence too, but not to the point of murderers being more famous than scientists and embraced like it’s a rite of passage or something.
He signed a lot of guys that aren't getting into trouble and they're good. I watched Gucci's concert in Atlanta a couple of years ago. He had guys like Li Rye, Mac Critter, Brezdn, Bic Fizzle, FTO Sett, and BigWalkDog. I think they were good ones to sign. Gucci knows talent when he hears it, he also knows that signing them before anyone else does is important. It really depends on the artist. They have take advantage of opportunities like that. Unfortunately, the past catches up to the artist, and there's not much that can be done about it.
