The transmission is fine, as long as you dont add much more extra power into them and treat them with respect. I had an 06 WRX, and the only issue was a new checknengine light every week. Subaru is the Chevy of Japanese market vehicles

Mmk if we’re talking about the 5 speed wrx trans- I agree its crap. But the 6 speed sti transmission is a BEAST that can seriously take a beating. If you upgrade the synchros you’re pretty much good to go up to 700hp.
And then my boys 2019 WRX had 2nd gear go out and they took like a year to fix it before he got rid of it

My wrx sti blew up at 32K, only owned it from 24K. Have logs to prove my driving, receipts, videos of me doing oil changes.
Opened a claim with Subaru, where they told me to pound sand. Unfortunately it was the way they treated me during the process, which is to say they completely ignored my every email and call, and left a voicemail giving me their decision without even looking over any of the documentstion they requested from me.
These cars will blow up on you.

Stock 5-speed WRX transmission is good to about 350 Hp. 6-speed STI transmission is good to about 500 Hp.

So why not put a sequential into high car and the sti 6 speed into low car 😅😅
