4. The aspect of the value of great art that you aren’t taking into consideration in your conversation is the immense talent, skill and effort that an individual artist expends on his art. It is not everyone that can achieve the level of artistry of a Da Vinci or a Vermeer. Modern technologies are devaluing this fundamental skill/talent phenomenon. People see so much “high level” reproduction of great art – including everything generated by AI – that they forget the blood, sweat and tears that went into creating these masterpieces. It is the same in music. People can only achieve these things today because of the amazing individuals that came before them when pen and paper were the only technology used. My two cents…

17. 1:46:20 actually no, during the renaissance there was little construction of cathedrals (I think you are mistaking it by the gothic period) and the period that produced the most art is the baroque, 1800s. The importance of the renaissance is that we went from feudalism to capitalism, the financial system got created in Venice, and science replaced religion. Also the languages and national identities of Spain, England, and France got created around this time (thanks to Cervantes, Shakespeare and the Italians who moved to France). A lot of this was a result from the devastation of the black plague.
