46 thoughts on “The Arithmetic of Nitrogen, Potassium, and Phosphorus: Mastering NPK Ratios with Kyle Kushman

  1. Thank you for a better understanding of the ratios. I've been using OA for a couple runs now but their feeding chart is misleading. After watching this video and doing further research I turned my veg. around in 1 week.

  2. I wonder what thet used backkk in the day. Real skunk. I bet it was nothing other then compost and moss. Something along these lines. I bet no powder no ferments no nothingggg and it was skunkkkkyy gasssssss.

  3. Mr Kushman please help.

I'm using Pennington All purpose plant food 20-10-20 cuz it was on sale $6 and it has nitrate nitrogen as well as ammonia and urea. Also I have Espoma Organic Bloom Super Blossum Booster at 1-3-1,… Will this be enough???

during seedling stage I'm going quarter of Pennington assuming I'm right- I'll get 5-2.5-5. I'm going light for this second week it was only water the first week ph to 6.8 now I also have cal-mag I'm using also half strength… Until week 3 I'll go full strength on CAL MAG and 20-10-20 until I get to flowering I'll cut the Pennington to 10-5-10 while introducing Espoma 1-3-1 will this be effective????

  4. I have an all organic 1-3-1, and what I thought was natural it's Pennington All purpose plant food 20-10-20. It was only $6 and I'm broke. Using happy frog also sulfur and lime and ph down liquid, cal mag also. Will I be alright???

  5. Organics for me is so hard compared salt based fertilizers follow the cheat sheets….I'm learning always the hard way with this organics outdoor…I reckon I have lost 1/3-1/2 yield due to stunted growth and yellowing yellow from bottom up….I'm so spewin….but learning learning I am🤙

  6. What a long video to say almost nothing of value. How about addressing the timing and rat, ratios of application and why. What do the various ratios do to drive the growth and morphology of the plant

  7. Currently growing in 5-gallon fabric pots with an Airdome at the base (surrounded by clay pellets) and a 50/50 mix of Fox Farm Ocean Forest & Happy Frog. My nutrient lineup is Humboldts Secret (which claims to be organic), and I’ve got everything running on a solar-powered automated drip system (pulling energy from my grow lights).

This time, I’m using Athena Fade for the last 2 weeks, as I never can seem to get full color change (senescence) by the time the trichomes are 10% amber and I think that means I am giving my ladies too much N at the middle/end of flowering. I debated using the high recommendation of Part A and the low recommendation for Part B, during veg. Then vice versa during the flower stage, until the final 2 weeks as mentioned previously. Everytime I start to get a handle on all the grow info…more comes. What a great time to be a legal grower!! Love the show!

  8. Hi,
This is Marcus from Greendeagle Inc., an e-rig brand located in Chino, CA. We're excited to potentially collaborate and would love to hear your thoughts.
    Thanks,

  9. Most plants, and cannabis is no exception, need an NPK of 3-1-2
Anything more can still work, but chances are you'll be wasting nutes and money at best, or burning your plants at worst.
Your media also plays a key role in nutrient retention (CEC). Several growing medias will only retain cations, hence the need of
continuously applying more N and P which are in anionic form and would otherwise be leached away with watering, ==> waste
There's obviously a whole lot more involved than simple arithmetics.

  10. Rabbit💩 3-3-3 NPK is great way to start off yur seedlings after day 10 get gallon of R.O. water n ph to 6.1 i use apple cider vinegar and always watch them take off organics is the only way to go

  11. I use Alaska fish fertilizer for veg, it's 5-1-1. When in flowering I use 1tsp. of Alaska FF with 1 TBS. of a liquid Bloom fertilizer, it's 0-5-4. to a gallon of water. Been working well for me for years. I also use every 2 weeks some molasses for the microbes. I first started growing in 1976 in the foyer in my small Cambridge, MA apartment. My seeds were bag seed from that spectacular Colombian gold and red . The taste and high from that was perfect.

  12. kyle kushman taught me about veganics back in 2010 in oaksterdam…dialing in the recipe for my personal preference has been one of the most educating experiences of my life…veganics is the best and i have stuck to this recipe ever since because if a corner is cut or a factor is changed the results in the end product suffer…thank you mr kushman for your education and dedication to the medical cannabis community

  13. Raw NPK was first to sale this type of line of nutes. Where you can spoon feed so do speak. A plant. With b12 etc humid acid all in one. Not to mention amino acids. NPK RAw water soluble immediately available to plants way better !!!!
