Why did Paul Walker own 5 BMW M3s? Why does someone own 50 Miatas? Today we’re looking at the most extreme cases of people hoarding the same type of car!

Special thanks to friend of the channel @LarryChenPhoto for letting us use his coverage of the Fluffy Museum.

And huge thanks to Karo for bringing his E36 M3 to the shop! https://www.instagram.com/carswithkaro

  1. Obviously it's a cool car because of the history but I'll never understand why the A/C and radio were removed instead of the rear seats, the headliner, 50lbs of sound deadening, rear and passenger headrests and glass fog light enclosures while the A/C was deemed an "unnecessary luxury item" and removed to save 20lbs.

The windshield wiper reservoir is full sized, wiper arms are steel and it still has an ashtray for both the driver, passenger with 1 more in back for the kids to fight over.

Heck It even has a full sized battery and high output alternator for the era which with the electric A/C fan and sound system deleted I can assume is to power each cigarette lighter so each occupant can chain-smoke without waiting for the other to pass the light around.

Also has carpeting and redundant floor matts as well as the signature BMW heavy overengineered German lock tumbler assembly on both sides…but in the end A/C was what they decided to remove to achieve 10% of their weight reduction.

They designed special body panels to save weight but the rear windshield and doors use the same luxury glass found in the 328i…heavier than the glass used in most economy cars to provide better sound deadening (lexan is street legal on all but the front windshield and would have saved 20lbs). I suppose this was done to maintain american drive thru compatibility? Cupholders were deleted to make weight though. This is a racecar after all.

Anyways it's actually these quirks that make me want an LTW rather than it being lighter than the standard M3. The stupidity gives it character.

  2. So far I own 3 f30 series BMW. I am planning on buying a F30 330E tomorrow. Making it a collection of four. Why? Because it still is the best car I have ever driven and I am so used to driving it, that it feels like its part of my body. My goal is to have every F30 engine version and body style.

  3. $200 a night stay in Italy and get to drive very well maintained roadsters around the Italian countryside? Wait what? $200 a night and you get drive roadsters around the Italian countryside? It cost about $100 on avg hotel + $100 to rent a Vespa or $200 rent a car or walking is free… or $200 a night and you get to drive a roadster around the Italian Countryside… This is a no brainer….

  4. Man stop pooping on the Chivette they're an amazing platform almost taylor made for engine swaps… Its rear wheel drive with an oversized engine bay fully and perfectly capable of housing the famed LS motor or even the cheaper heavier LT1… an engine swapped Chivette is the ultimate sleeper…

  5. I remember visiting Bob McDorman’s Corvette collection when a buddy of mine was a salesman there. We did color guard for Lee Greenwood during a concert hosted at the dealership. Bob was very patriotic!

  6. My dad's first car was a 5 door chevette. He bought it brand new for $4700 CAD in the late '70's. a few years later, a person who was drinking and driving totaled the chevette. Thankfully my dad was okay. To replace it, he got himself a brand new 1983 v6 firebird. He later sold it in 1988 when he had more kids than back seats. Really puts in perspective for me the people who swear up and down they need either a mini van or a gigantic suv or truck just because they have one or two kids. 4 person family can easily live a good life with 4 seats. Luxuries like towing a trailer need not apply.

  7. This is the car that led to my love of BMW. When I was 12 my family and I went to a race at Limerock Park in Connecticut. BMW has always had a presence at Limerock so it wasn't unheard of to see the random BMW strewned around the park or booths etc. This trip however they were trying to sell the LTW's so they actually had 3 of them there in an upper parking lot. For a small fee they would actually take you for a ride in the car. So I begged my stepfather throughout the day until he ultimately relented and we went for a ride in this gorgeous car. I remember climbing in the back seat and actually not being impressed. I saw the empty spot on the dash where the radio was supposed to be and the cloth seats. The analog dials for the climate control as opposed to the digital climate control I had seen in other BMW's Then however we started to drive. And when I say drive what I really mean is a professional driver started to beat the shit out of the cars in that parking lot. They had cones set up so they were whipping us around the cones. Fishtailing the back of the car around. It was the most fun I had ever had in a car and after that I was sold. The ride was probably less than 3 minutes but it brought about a lifetime of enthusiasm for BMW. It wasn't until years later I realized just how special those cars truly were. This was my poster car. We left after our "ride" with a couple promotional brochures and the poster that hung on my bedroom wall until I went away to college. Unfortunately the poster and brochures I kept for all those years have been lost to time but the M3 LTW will always hold a special place in my heart as the car brought on my passion/obsession with BMW to this day.

  8. One thing is if you really like a car and want to continue driving it long term, it’s maybe even a good strategy to buy multiple for the parts. Cause they stop making the parts for a car after 20 years, sometimes less than that. Especially if it’s an usual uncommon car. Finding parts becomes a nightmare. I’m going through that now with a prelude. If I had like 9 more preludes, I could simply keep driving this nice car for life.
