When I grew in soil, I used mosquito bits and the yellow sticky traps. It would control them but as soon as I switched to a soiless grow, I never saw another insect of any king, ever. I now grow in a peat/vermiculite mix as per Dr. Bugbee prescribes. I also have a SP3000 and it's the very best light for a 2×4 tent, imo. I also don't have an endorsement deal with them. lol. But you probably will soon. gl.
