25 thoughts on “I bought a 100-year-old Buick for a family car

  1. 4:48 the 1931 was the first year for an 8 cylinder Buick but the first Buick with overhead valves was the 1898 one-off that W built for David Buick at the Buick Vim and Power Co.

  2. "no one my age appreciates these cars" bullshit. I'll be 49 in a week I love 30s cars.` swooping fenders, massive head lights. 20s cars were still pretty crude machines, 40s and up were stamped out by machines, but 30s cars are works of ART.

btw love the family thing. buddy of mine is doing something similar with his daughter and flat fender jeep.

  3. It's history and it shows us what our early evolution was like. Cars that are this old they're truly pieces of history, there's just no other good way to describe it, but other cars that people are enthusiasts of. Even if you're not a car person, it's not just a car. When they're this old. It is truly art

  4. Lovely family story. My son was born I was driving a Ford probe GT manual. Reminded me of a Ferrari 😂. I bought an accord wagon, then a Mazda 6 wagon, now a Prius V wagon. I wonder if he will get a wagon later in life 😂

  5. Every time I see a car like this it makes me think of my grandpa. He used to take me to see cars like this when I was young. I really miss going to these car shows with my pap.

Edit: I just remembered how much my grandma hated these (she said they smell).

  6. For years I've said that with the long wheel base of Buick in this era, and the "ginger bread"(sparkly bits), it's all the look of a Packard for a fraction of the cost.

I've wanted one of these forever, but not quite enough to sell my high milage 996 Turbo for one.

  7. I just couldn’t drive a car like that. I’d feel like I was “putting on airs, pretentious “. I guess the Model A and Model T feel more like my “station “. Beautiful car though.

  8. What a great car! What a great guy! What a great story! They are the perfect family for that car! Family fun is what it's all about!

  9. There’s definitely something to be said about the reliability of almost completely mechanical vehicles. If it’s not rusted solid, it’ll run through most anything.

  10. My dad has a 1929 Buick that's been in our family for 60 years very similar to the one you've purchased loved hearing a story about a car so familiar!
