We The Growers sits with Derek Sipkoi from Sipkoi in Moreno Valley, CA, where he talks about him recently adding Undercanopy Lights to his facility. Undercanopy Lights are new lighting fixture that sits under your canopy in between your plant rows. Many people have seen success using them throughout the industry, but are they worth it?

  1. Everyone commenting UC is a game changer lol. UC has been done for decades. It's the lighting technology that is available these days that makes UC a game changer now. The concept was always solid. Glad to see the tech available to make it feasable. Will definitly be trying to break my record with some. Cut the check!

  2. With under canopy, side lighting, etc the industry will transform into grams/sqft instead of pounds per light eventually. We are adding a ton of light, not just 1 overhead anymore! For our company we assess grams per watt as well. UC is a game changer for yield but if it isn't done right quality will diminish

  3. Just to add balance. I have a dedicated mono crop room. One bench with think grow icl 300, one with craft farmer v3 and one with faven r8. Personally I think the faven line is out performing but need to run them all for a good year or so to really compare. But ultimately, if you go with any of the big names in under canopy you’ll get a good return. Fan boys will always be fan boys, let the evidence speak – test for yourself.

As an old mix horizontal and vertical HPs grower, these under canopy lights were a no brainer for me. Even have a row with some side lights also going in next run
