45 thoughts on “KISS Manager on Paul Stanley: “He Sings to Tracks”

  1. Let's be honest. If someone traveled back in time to the 80's and told a teenage KISS fan that KISS in their 70's in 2022 used a backing track we would just be impressed they aren't in wheelchairs.

  2. Fuck them. Never cared for them. Sweetening their live record is the same to me. And it def was… crowd supplemented, compositing songs etc. It doesnt matter.

  3. The most overrated parody of a rock band in all of human history. Spinal Tap in the flesh. Paul Stanley has never been able to sing and there's not enough pyrotechnics in the world to hide that fact. If he's miming to such a low bar anyway it comes as no surprise.
Gene can hardly comment, all they see in a crowd is dollar signs. It's always been about money for Simmons and Stanley, why KISS are the biggest sell outs in music. It's about shifting product. Business first, mediocre band second.
It's rich hearing a man who would sell KISS branded snow to Eskimos talk about principals and value for money. He is a marketing executive who runs a financial services consultancy.
They have licensed more than 3,000 product categories, from lunch boxes and comic books to credit cards and condoms. In his book Sex Money Kiss, he states: "I think it's cool to see my face on a lunchbox. It's fun. I'm doing this for me."
    How about a KISS coffin?
    Yip.

Yeah, charging up to $3,000 a ticket for a 90 minute show that hasn't changed in 30 years, that's the way to do it.

I don't know why anyone would submit to being a mark for these vapid vacuous egotistical maniacs.

  4. Has much as I love classic rock, and I am an avid fan of Kiss since 1977, I wish that they would go out gracefully. It breaks my heart to see these bands get old, but that is life. I feel that the biggest problem we have is that the music industry has changed dramatically and it is making it harder and harder for possible new bands to ever make it in the way that bands like Kiss have.

  5. I don't see any problems with using backing tracks for extra instruments that you maybe don't have players for, but vocal backing tracks is just a no bueno. I mean I would rather listen to shoddy singing than watch someone lip synch or mumble the words on stage to a track. I've heard lots of bad singing at live shows as long as the energy's good most people don't care.

  6. The real fans won’t care one way or the other. They are there to see the band and show. If Paul needs some help, then he should have help but they should be honest about it.

  7. My problem with using tracks is now the entire song has to be on a click in order for everything to sync up. For a rock show I think that has a negative effect on the overall energy and feel. I prefer the push/pull of a band playing in free time. Instead of focusing on playing in time , you can focus on the each other and the crowd vibe. And I hate to say it, if you physically can't do it anymore , it's time to do something else . From what I have seen, Paul has lost his range and pitch pretty severely . Maybe he can continue on in a different genre but not KISS . No shame in that.

  8. It's embarrassing and insulting to any concert goer to have to be reduced to Milli Vanilli status and fake your performance. Most people don't care, which is unfortunate. People like me do. Paul has become such a hypocrite and caricature of himself and whatever the band once was that he claimed it to be, certainly isn't now.

  9. Myself and many others online have been calling them out since they started this supposed fairwell tour. Stanley is lip syncing around 80% of his show and there's tonnes of evidence of it, let alone the fact he lost his singing voice at least 10 years ago. His hypocrisy of bashing other artists years for backing tracks while now claiming that he and the band are in the best shape of their life and are going out on top, is off the charts.

  10. I seen zz top live and my sister said they mimed their show. As for U2. I seen them live. Bono started a song and he screwed up the guitar start to the song. We all had a laugh and he got it together on the second attempt. Now, where was i? Yeah I seen the stones and kiss. All the shows were great. Backing tracks or not.

  11. I disagree, not every singer lip sings!!! That's a crock of shit!! Only Kiss would cause they suck!! I've seen real bands and singers,so whoever thinks that is an asshole!!! I could name several bands, but people will still believe otherwise!!! 🖕🖕🖕

  12. They should put a disclaimer on ticketmaster.
Upon buying this ticket, you agree and are aware that the original space man and cat man are replaced. The show is in no way a full live musical performance.
If idiots want to support hypocrisy and Syncin Stan then the saying is correct.
A fool and his money are easily separated.
Man people must be real hard up for entertainment. To go see 2 70 year old men dressed up in costumes pretending to be in their 50's for one more tour with makeup before retirement.
Only been 21 years since Ace or Peter were in the band.
    No new material.
Fake characters. Fake vocals. A wonderful way to support the art of musicianship.

  13. Maybe Paul should have at least had a headset microphone lol! I prefer Ace, Peter, Paul and Gene any how! I wouldn't see this lineup any way!

  14. All of the people defending lip syncing are the problem. If you can't sing for real then you suck. Period. If it's due to age or damage to your vocal chords, then you should have retired instead of faking it. And Paul isn't using backing tracks to "enhance" his vocals. He is flat out lip syncing entire songs.

  15. You took the words right out of mouth. If I could have enough money to go any concert and I mean other bands as well, that I actually scraped up money and they just all of a sudden quit and returning tickets because the singer no longer could sing, I would be devastated that I didn't see the band in person. I know people disagree with me and that's ok. This is just what I think. P.S. If I would have gone to any concert at the time it would have been Journey. I had a teenage crush on Steve Perry. Jump many years ahead, (like 30 years ahead) my husband seen that Journey was touring in a different state. He's a OTR truck driver and I would have ridden with him, asked me If I wanted to go and I said, "Did Steve Perry rejoined the band?" He said, "No." I then said NO! Our daughter even told him not to ask me in less Steve Perry was with the band. He ignored her and asked me. The next thing we hear is, "TOLD YOU SO DAD!" I would have easily gone to the KISS concert even if they did use tracks.

  16. in a matter of 3-5 years nobody from classic rock will perform live. Lip syncing problem solved. End of a genre without any turn over.

  17. I'm OK with it. These guys have earned the right to put on the type of show they wish. However, it would've been nice if Doc had clarified the issue from the beginning (Honesty, right Gene). Hell even their legendary KISS ALIVE had overdubs and punch-ins. All good, Rock and Roll all nite gentlemen!

  18. I saw KISS in Sydney recently on there current final world tour! Absolutely blew me away,Paul was spectacular and say great,Songs like Love Gun he may have used a backing track but it’s the event that counts! 10/10 performance. Cheers 🍺

  19. Big deal. He's more than proven himself. I saw him 80s n 90s and on. I feel bad he can't soarr like he fid. That's because he did it for ever. No pum. Yet that track. Omg. I'm fortunate enough to say. Who cares. He gave it all. He atill has the spirit. In his 70s. Today 49 years ago was their first gig outside NYC.
    Go Paul Go go, go.

  20. I think it's the standard now to have a portion of the vocal on backing tracks. The singer could be singing on top of it. I don’t care as long as it’s a good show.

  21. Saw KISS in 2016 and Paul did seem to start losing his voice near the end. He probably needs enhancement to get through an entire show now. Remember, he's 71.
