  1. The Labyrinth was one of the biggest parts of my childhood! And I wasn't the only one who loved it. I was a kid and wasn't aware of it's critical reception….but kids my age (5th, 6th grade?) LOVED it!

  2. As a millenial, Muppet Babies was a galaxy brain move. Obviously the franchise was already world famous, but Muppet Babies and Fraggle Rock just cemented its position in the hearts and minds of all of us born in the 80s as well.

  3. Well time for my opinion to be here muppet babies was always and will meant to be a cash grab because you wanna know why it contradicts the canon Muppet movie showing that the Muppets actually met each other as adults

  4. With them mentioning that most children would be at church on Sunday mornings, they are obviously thinking about Christianity. But, although I myself am NOT Jewish, it seems like, not only them, but also the majority of society, is forgetting about the synagogue attending Jewish faith people, who attend their church/synagogue on Saturday mornings. I'm a VERY INCLUSIVE person, and I can't help but point out that societal flaw. Forgetting that particular faith within society and a programming block, does the followers of that particular faith a deep injustice. Like I said, I'm NOT Jewish, but I attempt to have inclusivity for all peoples, regardless of faith, nationality, skin tone, sexual orientation, or gender identity/expression, and find it a great injustice to all peoples/humanity to not have inclusivity for all.

  5. For those who weren’t around at the time, Jim did not know he was dying. To confirm, just watch interviews of those who knew him. They all describe his death as a shock. There were a few celebrities who passed away from the same thing due to tainted blood transfusions or during surgery. Made the medical world double down on making sure everything is good before donation. Off the top of my head, I remember Jim being one and another being tennis player Author Ash.

  6. I am of a very specific age which makes "Labyrinth was a critical and commercial failure in its day" the most shocking twist in this series of videos to me.

Thank you for including Muppet Family Christmas. It's not only the special with perhaps the most comprehensive collection of Muppet properties ever assembled, but also may just be the most perfect Muppet TV special ever produced. Everyone fully understands the characters, and it's both warm, and laugh-out-loud funny from start to finish.

  7. The concept of the show was created on March 10, 1984. Network executives and several others suggested Henson Associates to transform the Muppet Babies into a Saturday-morning cartoon. On April 13, 1984, CBS colleague, Judy Price, granted permission to Jim Henson and his staff for its proposal.Jim Henson was initially skeptical, as he thought it would not have as much educational value as Sesame Street. However, he liked the idea a lot that he decided to create the show. He visited every major studio in California, choosing to work with Marvel Productions after a meeting with Hank Saroyan. For the core theme of the show, Henson and Marvel Productions agreed to implement the theme of the power of creativity and encouragement of imagination.

Scooter's twin sister, Skeeter, was exclusively created for the show to provide more feminine empowerment. Nanny being seen only from the neck down was done to represent the kids' view of an adult.

  8. Now that you mention The Storyteller, to this day, many people from my country (Peru) most remember John Hurt from it. I recall, while watching the first Harry Potter, someone saying out loud in the movie theater: Hey! That's the Storyteller!

  9. This series is making me realize that every single puppet based movie and show I've ever seen apparently was made by Jim Henson. I did not know Sesame Street, Muppets, Fraggle Rock, The Labrinth and Dark Crystal were all related.

  10. Cult following. Yeah, the fact that the many Internet memes (including David Bowie's quote-unquote "goblin balls") had given "Labyrinth" a cult following. In all seriousness, though, you can't blame Jim for trying, and yes, people ARE starting to appreciate that movie a little bit nowadays.

  11. I had Muppet baby bedsheets and I grew up with in the late 90s. I have never even seen the show LMAO thank you for some much-needed context.
