  1. I do find this show to be a bit entertaining from a Jim Henson show since I might have saw it on ABC Kids and one of the top 20 in the shows aged for mostly children and teenagers in my opinion

  2. I hated the muppet show when I was little, but absolutely loved the Fraggles. The Fraggles was also dubbed to Danish, which helped a lot with digesting it, while the Muppet Show was always shown in original English because they felt it was too complex to translate and the jokes wouldn't work in Danish, but then a lot of the jokes fell flat here because Danish and American humour simply isn't compatible

  3. As of this writing it’s January 8, 2023. January 10, 2023 will mark the 40th anniversary of the debut of Fraggle Rock. As a ten year old back then, I can clearly remember my excitement for the show and how I felt when I watched the first episode on HBO.

  4. Ah yes, Lew Grade's ATV/ITC had lost a fortune on a few Box Office bombs – Raise the Titanic, etc, lost its regional ITV franchise, ironically as they'd been too good with Overseas Sales, neglecting their British regional franchise, resulting in the break up of Associated Communications Corporation, the tv and film library passing through Polygram/Universal eventually to ITV plc, the Pye record company sold off, the ATV Music Publishing company was sold off to Michael Jackson (this is why the Muppet Show could have Beatles songs, and loads of obscure music hall songs) and became Sony ATV Music Publishing, and the ATV Elstree/Borehamwood tv Studios, where the muppet show was actually video taped was sold onto to the BBC where Eastenders is made. Confusingly, the former EMI (film) Elstree Studios where some of the Muppet movies, Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, Star Wars, Indiana Jones etc were made, were around the corner, the one notoriously demolished in half to become a supermarket.

  5. I do wonder if Jim saw the reach and power of The Muppets, a relatively disposable piece of light entertainment, and decided to do something more meaningful with a "show to end all wars" 😉

  6. "Fraggle Rock was a resounding success that nailed exactly what it was going for from moment one"

Well okay, guess I need to watch it. *looks it up*….it's not available to stream with a subscription anywhere, you have to buy it. Surprises me that HBO doesn't have it even though they now own Sesame Street
