Slipknot could make some very big changes according to a new interview with Clown, with the band pivoting from an album format to releasing singles more frequently. Their latest Slipknot album ‘The End, So Far’ released in September.

  1. I greatly disagree. Every album felt like an event since they took breaks in between. Doing a single every now and then AND it just being ok doesn't sound great to me.

  2. Slipknot feels very rudderless. It seems as if they’re just adrift. They’re still coasting off the fame from their first records & a lineup that no longer exists. Just tour for a while, and return to the studio when you actually feel like it. This whole “we’ll just drop singles one a month” sounds like a recipe for disaster. You need to curate the music and let it exist in your mind for a while. I think a band that has pulled this off with great success is Rammstein. They’ve taken 10 year breaks between records.

  3. I can't wait for a new musical era to happen and Clown's words are a tremendous contribution for this to happen sooner than later! I LOVE IT! He is so right on his words. TIME FOR RECORD LABELS TO GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY! Nowadays they are such a fu****ing nuisance between musicians, their music and the fans.

  4. All these comments and I’m surprised nobody can see this for what it is. The End, So Far only pushed 59k units first week for a debut at #2, knocking them off their 1st streak. It’s about not tarnishing the Slipknot name by releasing further LP’s and lowering chart positions.

Clown is trying to re-package this and say that it’s cause Slipknot is going to transcend, and the fans get music a lot sooner. Straight about this album sold half as much as WANYK.

I’m not the biggest Slipknot fan so can one of their fans tell me if their latest album was bundled together with tour tickets? That has helped so many bands stay relevant on the Billboard 200.

    What do you guys think?

  5. I’d be really surprised if they actually banged out 1 song per month consistently. If they could do that, it wouldn’t take 2-4 years for 1 album. But even 1 song every 2-3 months would be sweet. I say give it a shot!

  6. Meh..Danny Carey of TOOL said the same thing about new songs and EPs.. I absolutely LOVE FEAR INOCULUM.. but I’d love to hear more new singles and updates “Opiate”.. would be cool if Slip 🪢 would be able to do that rather than just talk about it .. shit Weezer has actually done that .. some good and well.. some real bad lol.. but it’s great always having new music from them at least sooner than one every 4-16 years “the Cure” has now taken that mantle lol

  7. I am not mad if this is true but at least end making masterpiece LPs if you're going to stop making full length LPs far as making just singles? I disagree with that that is how you lose progression look at devildriver ever LP after next got better

  8. I think it's better them not being controlled by a label but shawns idea of one track a month, yeah that works if everyone agrees and it gives the band the time to refine it though wouldn't members get sick of not touring if they give that up. How long can you go like that before members get bored or if real life just gets in the way.

  9. Not against this, but the album format is not bad. There is a reason a lot of albums have overall themes, especially in rock/metal. Having the songs together as you play the album front to back is a big part of the experience of a great record.

  10. I love Slipknot! To be honest I think that freedom to work on songs and release them much more often would be fuckin’ awesome! If they get to do collabs with other artists would great as well!😎😎😎😎😎

  11. It’s because their albums suck… a few good songs mixed in with a lot of whiny garbage. Their first three albums were good, after that, it’s a handful of good songs here and there. They can’t put a cohesive album together that you can listen to front to back, so why not just release random songs and put in less effort overall. Of course they’ll try to market it as something good but it’s really just an excuse to be lazy.
This is just my opinion fanboys, don’t get too upset.

  12. So Slipknot is hurt that they don't sale albums like they used to. So Roadrunner is the fall guy. They are doing so bad they may do only singles? I mean these guys don't even play with passion anymore, it's just a robotic show every show

  13. They're old, they're diluted. They're sound isn't as raw and heavy. As someone who grew up listening to this band from the beginning, best if they retire

  14. Good bye slipknot. I don't want a wait and bleed singles. I want those dark gritty heavy songs on there album's. How people are agreeing to this I don't know. If you don't agree I'm sorry but your not a fan of slipknot. Imagine not hearing songs like scissors, virus of life and all hope is gone. There singles have always been my least favourite songs of there's
