Art takes a unique combination of skill, creativity the very human element of aesthetic taste. But what if the visual arts also fall to AI. In this episode we discuss DallE 2, a powerful text to image generator that’s set to shake things up.

29 thoughts on “How This A.I. Draws Anything You Describe [DALL-E 2]

  1. As much human knowledge disappeared over the rise of many technologies so the same will happen with this. There will be many dead ends but also new opportunities.

  2. Calling all people to ISLAM
ISLAM IS REVEALED FAITH SENT DOWN BY GOD FOR ALL MANKIND
ISLAM IS NOT Man made product
IF you are not in ISLAM THEN YOU ARE not in the TRUE FAITH

  3. I think it will eventually have a place in business, so it will have an affect on people that work in that sector. History shows that mechanisation has an impact, and the skills and abilities artists have will become more like a hobby.

It’s sad as my child is at Uni doing art and this is the career path they have chosen and love. Humans have been creating art for millennium, part of human nature is to make art.

I don’t think it will kill off artists. AI art that is quickly massed produced will be diminished in value and not taking as exceptional. Artists are exceptional! ❤

  4. now we will have more time to put drugs in our system and quantify how much degeneration is necessary before totally losing what remains of the human in us and all that to satisfy the greed of a few autistic people who know how to code and who lack talent and wisdom

  5. It is using photos to create these works. If you were to simply put in words and expect the machine to make exactly what you asked for without any visual reference is impossible. They are using photographic input.

  6. The machine is not thinking it is programmed by humans to take data and simply construct it into whatever we desire. The machine cannot use NOTHING to CREATE something. That is false, when indeed it does not learn but simply record and store the information for reference when combining the prompts.

  7. Yes I believe that this I is just grabbing images from a data bank & merging them together, and a color pallet that knows the rules of color. The images the A.I. creates are magnificent but you type in a raccoon in space, the A.I. picks a raccoon image, a space image, and an astronaut suit and merges them together, using the same line of artistic reasoning humans would use. The question is…Who get's the credit for the image, the person that inputs the data perimeters or the A.I. that creates it? Who owns the I.P. to the image at that point? great Video!!

  8. As with all technological breakthroughs, this is only the beginning. We are getting a small glimpse into what AI can do or will do in the future. Although safeguards are in place now, how quickly will other countries or nefarious actors be able to replicate this technology and use if for their own gain? We are entering into a world where are creative professionals, including artists, narrators, and even actors, are at risk of becoming redundant. Even more unsettling, the entire notion of reality will be increasingly ambiguous. Imagine what will happen when people can train an AI model with real photos and videos of a person and simply write a script to make it say the things they want them to say, and do the things they want them to do.

  9. People think in pictures. The ability to describe a concept and have it convert the concept into multiple visuals, which I believe will accelerate innovation. The iterative process of generating a visual from text, then the human selecting an image and converting it to modified text, then following that iterative process multiple times introduces the human brain back into the process leading to rapid innovation. I am a planner and innovator building products from a heirarchy of parts, some that exist and some that do not. I see this iterative process as designing products and simulating not only the finished product but generating the parts list and sequence of assembly.

  10. In decades of seeing all the cool shit on internet this is by far the most mind blowing thing I’ve ever seen. Part of me still thinking this must be an elaborate hoax. How the F that overnight AI went from repeating my McDonald order to painting a fucking Van Gogh.

  11. I guess the next step is to give this AI time perception and make it understand complex storys to build up multiple images that use previous images as reference, like a context-memory or something
