  1. In the 50’s: “wow chemistry is so cool and futuristic!”
Now: “yeah I learned about radioactive decay in chem class today. Pretty boring but oh well”

  2. The only way to actually archive post planetary civilization is for the world to come together and do it for humanity and not for profit, that's why we haven't made reqlly any progress in leaving the planet since the moon landing, and why the USS was a united effort, and why elon and bezos can't do it themselves and you wouldn't want them to anyway since they would literally own the bases like a feudal lord and do it for profit not for progress

  3. i gotta say, the concepts of the past always look way cooler than what is actually delivered in the time they predicted
biggest example, look at concept cars of the 80s and compare them to cars of today
some real cyberpunk stuff going on there and all we got are bland cars all trying to imitate eachother

  4. I remember visiting Disneyland as a child of about 6 or 7. The one thing I remember the most about Tomorrowland was the Monsanto House of the Future! I'd love to find some sort of detailed documentary on that house and what it predicted. Tomorrowland still has the issues of keeping to the future and the best way to utilize the buildings they have there.

  5. Von Braun wasn't just a Nazi. He was Schutzstaffel (SS). That was a highly selective elite group and one had to desire to be a member first. So much for his insistence that he was apolitical.

  6. 21:41 does anyone know if this is true? was Walt Disney's lucky number 4? or was that just a joke? Lol
I can't find anything written about Walt himself, and it makes me sad. I want to learn more about Walt himself. How does someone who worked in a failing jelly factory and went poor turn into this? It's inspiring.

  7. 5:37 and look at all the advancement and amazing things Tom Lehrer did for humanity
Oh wait, he just whined and complained and made money. I hate nazis, but that is such a lazy low hanging joke. The equivalent of someone going "DRUMPF IS ORANGE!!!!!" today. Wow. I bet Hitler and his followers were HUMILIATED by that song! ……more likely they don't even know it exists. Lol. A lot of good it did for him to write that. Just wanted attention on himself.

  8. It's crazy how, less than a century later, Walt's "house of the future" idea is actually pretty accurate. It's funny how many things that, even 30 years ago, were considered sci-fi are now a reality, but knowing that 75 years ago, someone somehow had an inkling that we would eventually have some form of smart houses is fascinating to think about.
