Circa Survive’s new single “Electric Moose” comes from their upcoming EP ‘A Dream About Death’ – out 2/4. Pre-order the EP now at https://RiseRecords.lnk.to/ADreamAboutDeath

“I really love this song. It actually came together after we were finished the writing process. The other songs were sent off to mastering already. This one came together very organically and we loved it so much we had to include it. It’s really unlike anything we’ve written before. The lyrics for it started out as a poem about domestic abuse and someone trapped in a relationship but trying holding onto the thought of how it was before things became violent.” – Anthony Green

LYRICS
Don’t think twice about yourself
You left out some important detail
I would appreciate an explanation
You make it seem like you’re the good guy all the time

Every ear will listen as you stumble
Every ounce of attention gets paid
In the background they’ve all made their minds up

Stage the fight
Don’t lay your hands on me
Don’t lay your hands on me
I want to get my time back

Hold that thought
Hold that thought
Hold that thought
Hold that thought

Drag your fingers in the glass like it makes a difference
Drag your nails across the sand
Realize that it’s just glass

You take advantage of it
You take advantage of it
You take advantage of it every way you can
You take advantage of it
You take advantage of it
You’re the only one who has to know

Wait it out
They’ll always be there to collect
Wait it out
They’ll always show up in the end
Wait it out
We’ll pick up right where we left off
Wait it out

Sink or die
Don’t bet against yourself
Don’t bet against yourself
I wouldn’t let my guard down

  1. Never understood these modern overly eccentric dancing. Like who can make the weirdest unattractive movement with your body? Shame, kind of ruined the songs for me. Singer and band is always phenomenal. Poor choice in choreography. There's plenty of people out there trying to catch our attention through dancing. This was pretty ugly.

  2. According to an official press release, ‘The lyrics for ‘Electric Moose‘ actually started out as a poem that Frontman Anthony Green wrote about domestic abuse, and someone trapped in a relationship but trying to hold onto the thought of how it was before things became violent.’

  3. I'm not sure what the point of the video is but my interpretation of it is that sex can be the most addictive thing in a toxic relationship. It's like they'd get it on, fight, get it on again and then fight once more but they keep coming back to the same conclusion. The sex must be worth the abuse to them.

Maybe I'm just looking too deeply into it or maybe I'm just straight up wrong but that's the vibe I got from it.

  4. Because you guys didn’t reserve a local park or a whole hotel to shoot this in, I’m calling it pseudo artistic, and I hate it. How could restrict the writing to a soulless apartment? Freak outa here with this wanna be profound gibberish.

  5. This is a pretty powerful video. Going from basically the fucking to fighting and everything between. I think anyone who has been in any sort of destructive relationship gets it.

  6. Although I totally respect it, I've never really gotten interpretive dance (if that's even what this is). But knowing what the song is about and having been through an incredibly emotionally abusive marriage, and very recently another brief similar relationship, this really clicked. I got it. Amazing song and beautifully heartbreaking video. The dancers are phenomenal.

  7. From tinfoil forests through to fatherhood and beyond in so many different ways Anthony green, circa and saison have left permanent scars on my life and I couldn’t be more grateful for them.
