20. This was great content. Thank you Trap Lore Ross. It was especially interesting for me as I grew up in the outskirts of Gothenburg in an area just outside of the town Angered, called Gårdsten. I hadn’t been back since I left as a kid. It was a decent area in the 90’s… Great communities, with the occasional occurrences but generally not so bad. I went back recently as an adult and it is ROUGH. Some of my friends were killed in the same neighbourhood I grew up in, area looked deprived, people and kids not outside as much… Looked a shadow of what it was. Sad really.

    It’s a shame because I was born in the country by African migrants but through its generosity it’s losing control of the beautiful country it once was.

    But one thing I recognised after going as an adult which I didn’t as a kid because I knew no better, was that we were so segregated from Swedish culture and society. We were almost pushed out to these “projects” and left to our own devices. The education and schools were bad, we didn’t know much else outside of our environment, the world seemed so small; so I understand why a lot of the youth from similar areas resort to violence, gangs and illegal activities. Racism was also heavy back then… It was almost normal and you just took it on the chin and moved on. The damage that can do to a young persons mind is a lot.

    I don’t know where I’d be today had we stayed, but my parents left in 98 or 99 in hopes for better opportunities, education and future for us. I can honestly say it was the best gift and decision they gave us.

41. Im sorry and im in no way laughing at anyones death anywhere at anytime. Ive witnessed violence up close and personal. But as an American Who grew up in an urban setting the "high level of violance" in some of these countries is laughable. If you total up all the murders in Sweden for an entire year it wouldnt add up to a month in Chicago, New Orleans, Baltimore, St. LOUIS, detroit, Brooklyn, The Bronx, Newark, Philly, south Central, Oakland, ect.
