    Seriously, there is a HUGE market for simple reliable vehicles…. We just can’t spend $30k on them and not have them be exactly what we want out of the box. But if Toyota sold a customizable kit option, one that you could build yourself with instructions, that you could “factory assemble various lift and body kits, ordered straight from Toyota, why not that? Start out at $18k all the way to $35.

17. Zach: This video has been up for a year, so by now most people have moved on. Respectfully, allow me to correct the listed mistakes, and then I’ll offer my point of view.

    In your video you listed the new LC250 horsepower at 265; along with the electric motor the vehicle has 326 bhp. You also understated the peak torque figure, which is 475 ft. lbs.

    The gas mileage in the 80 series was advertised in the era at 10-13 mpg in the Z engine. (Note: The Z engine brought the horsepower up from 155 to 212 bhp). The listed gas mileage in the 250 series is 22-25 mpg in mixed driving.

    The Prado Context: My 1993 FZJ80 had a listed curb weight of 4,760 lbs. My 2025 J250 has a listed curb weight of 5,445 lbs. Please note that the 250, the so-called Prado, is heavier than the vaunted 80 series. No one calls a short wheel base Land Rover a lighter or less capable vehicle.

    There are numerous other points to compare and contrast between the two Land Cruisers, but I’ll leave it there.

    My bona fides: I owned both long- and short- wheelbase Series Land Rovers (‘64 and ‘67); a ‘93 FZJ80 Land Cruiser, all in Alaska, and I now own a 2025 J250 Land Cruiser. Do I wish some of those old features still existed on the new vehicle? Yes, but they don’t so, moving on.

20. There is no such thing as a $6500 Land Cruiser. A decent one with 200k will cost $15,000 easy. $6500 will get you a start able moveable Land Cruiser everything will leak lines will need replacement everything almost will have to be touched up or replaced.

23. I just bought a new Land Cruiser six months ago and I average 15 MPG in the city. I never would’ve bought it if I knew this. I live in California premium gas is $7.01/gal.

28. The 250 is not the new version of an 80 series , the 250 is a parado , the parado series is built with Toyota hilux running gear, the 300series Land Cruiser should be the comparison in this video, USA didn’t receive that model
