When it comes to big tech, it well and truly seems like it’s taking over everything. But what happens when it comes for Hollywood. In this episode we check it the insane chaos behind the Netflix/ Warner Brothers/ Paramount deal.

I fail to understand why is this so important: no one is forcing you to use their platforms and/or consume their content. Hollywood is long dead and they are just trying to stay relevant.
Netflix improving movies and series? Never, lol. It's a joke they own the Sopranos now. Netflix would never make anything even half as great as the Sopranos
Sounds to me like arrogant, decadent, hubris filled Hollywood is crying after ruining the movie industry for a couple of decades now. I say bring it on
Imagine being Blockbuster and deciding not to buy Netflix.
It's time for movie theatres to die. I have an 85" TV with surround sound at home, not to mention I can eat and drink whatever I want, and don't miss anything when I have to take a piss
Having Netflix and HBO Max today costs a consumer $18.98 per month for the cheapest plans. That would mean Netflix would have to more than double their prices to effectively “raise prices for consumers”.
I literally just don’t have the money for streaming services. If I didn’t have piracy I just wouldn’t watch media other than YouTube/tiktok. Jobs just don’t pay enough right now if you don’t want to go into debt.
If you pay for Netflix and then watch commercials you are a dip sh** and deserve to get ripped off. Amazon, HBO what ever, you’re a sucker.
Anti-trust is now a paper Tiger with no teeth. Mega Group/Donors run the World.
Amazon Prime videos would suite Warner Brothers as compared to the other two streaming platforms.
Less competition. More crappy movies. Less jobs, and the ultra rich getting richer. That's all I heard. It's the American Dream right?
Honestly don't know what to think … Monopolies are BAD for everyone, but maybe this is the shakeup Hollywood really needed.
So we're gonna end up with a Netflix/Disney duopoly with Sony pictures being the only one left.
Most of this is lazy, baseless speculation with respect to the consequences of a Netflix merger with a clear bias towards regulation solving imaginary problems
Netflix would be the best option in every aspect for Warner
it will only be worth it if netflix release the original Game of Thrones pilot episode 🤣
In my opinion, there are no truly good outcomes here. Either way, we lose. The streaming marketing is dysfunctional because of exclusive content. Because everyone wanted a piece of the pie and made exclusive content for themselves, the market died. This is raising prices and more competition isn't going to solve it. Piracy is going up. The best outcome here, in my opinion, is letting the merger go ahead.
I don't like movies being locked to theaters and having to wait for a year or more to get access to streaming. Plus, it gives us, the subscribers, access to more content for one price. Is price going to go up? Probably. But it's probably still better than two subscriptions. And if prices shot way up? Well, piracy will inevitably rise up again.
Really, the problem here is that the streaming market is so dysfunctional that there CAN NOT be competition. If everyone competes over content, prices will keep going up and up and up, because streaming is just not profitable anymore. If you want to do something about the merger, how about you fix the underlying issues first?
Blocking the merger will just keep the current status quo which is helping no one.
I think Netlix is going to win and in the end come 2030 the cost of Netflix monthly subscriptions would be on the low side $40. That is where I see this going.
I could care less, these shows and movies are all about money and not creating art.
There’s nothing to argue here. Less completion nearly always ends worse for us.
Netflix save Hollywood? Netflix movies suck.
I hope costco buys them
Cinema damaged itself already bro.
All that Ip, and still 55 billion in debt, deserved to be sold honestly.
If Paramount succeeds in this, it will be the end of the free press and ultimatly democracy in the United States!
Nothing wrong with end of the road for cinemas, they’ve had their time to make lots of money – not many people want to go there anymore to watch endless commercials and spend money on immorally overpriced drinks and popcorn. Thank you very much but no more.
Netflix ans cinema have nothing is common to each other. Netflix is infomous for crapy contents.
We have seen the last decade of the cinema. IMAX, 3D and a big holiday releases are going the way of the dodo bird!
The idea of the FTC or SEC doing anything is a joke. Netflix knows it can get away with it now
i hate how Ellisons (paramount) offering a several hundred million incentive to Zaslav (warner bros) for successful deal is not investigated. It is bribery 101.
7:05 I feel sorry for those who ddnt see Mustaaaaaard 😅
I don't subscribe to any of them. It doesn't matter. Everything has been done already. The glory days are long gone.
If Netflix gets WB prices are going up, if Netflix doesn't get WB prices are going up. If Paramount gets WB prices are going up, if Paramount doesn't get WB prices are going up.
….too big for sale…
Look at Disney's quality. Or iHeart radio.
Everything on all of these media platforms is free, pretty much immediately for me here in the UK, but ffs free up the herb 🌿
If this merger is allowed to go through, without exaggeration, it will be the worst thing in the history of media.
And yet they still ended "Batman: The Animated Series" on the 21st of December 😭😭😭😭
Netflix is filled with self agrandising documentaries paid for by the subject.
Well I guess the seven seas shall bless us once more
" All aboard kissed by the iron fist
We are sainted by the storm"- powerwolf. Also "Sailors with no God no glory
Heroes of our story
Sinners of the Seven Seas
Traitors, may the flood await us
Bless the navigators
Sinners of the sea"- also powerwolf
Oh no! Hollywoods in trouble! Anything but that!
What? Theaters are in trouble too! Oh no!
I’ve got more quality entertainment out of the Cold Fusion channel over the last decade or so, than anything WB, Netflix, or Hollywood in general (one of the most corrupt, dirtiest, perverted, and backwards companies on earth) in the same amount of time..
And yes. The matrix anything will suck. The wachowskis are lunatics. They made one great trilogy, and literally nothing else good.
my friends and I are going to keep our heads down and try to just buy as many DVDs of our favorite shows/movies before all this happens
"Could netflix fix all of this?" Guess you didn't catch the Witcher drama…
