A Christian calls in talk about their fear of the eternal afterlife that is promised to them.

There is something in the wall. I am a gecko.

  1. St. Paul says we only see things in a limited way for now; "in a mirror dimly, but then face to face". Eternity is beyond our ability to understand, so trying to understand it will get you in knots over a conception that is not even accurate.

  2. 20:10 I think those people who have never had to deal with that existential question, are people whose faith has never wavered. They believe wholeheartedly that every single bad or good thing that has or is going to happen to them is apart of that faith. An amazing amount of faith

  3. I feel like I just listened to two callers who did not know how to describe their ideas into words and also didn’t understand the points that Lyle was trying to get at
which was “why cannot there be separation between sex & relationships?” and “why does religion see sex as inherently immoral?“.

  4. In Heaven you're blended up into one of unlimited choirs, warbling forever to one of His unlimited Godheads. Hell is individual 'peace'. It's you, all alone, with yourself, by yourself, without end. Either way, what fun, huh?

  5. To the guy that's having company over. Just let them inside the house. You're overthinking it. Way too much. These people seem like they're in their thirties and '40s. They're not going to destroy your house. They know how to act inside of a house. If the cats get let out then just bring them back in. These are not big deals. You're just making them to be.

  6. The Bible and Jesus are extremely vague on what Heaven or "Paradise" actually is, how it works, what you do there, what version of you exists there, how time functions, etc. Almost all of the things that the caller is afraid of are ideas that people have come up with over the centuries. They are just ideas that the average person would assume to be paradise. It's highly unlikely that a God would make a paradise that only works for most people. Heaven could be completely different than what anyone assumes, too.

  7. I got the vibe that the first caller might be gay/bi and suppressing himself which makes me sad if so. At the very least I think he would be happier still married to one person but not religious.
