33 thoughts on “What’s the Best Grow Light for Growing Cannabis? [2024]

  1. Most likely the benifet comes from the ir in the hps lights causing the leaf to heat different and plants to transpire diffrently , that was the first thing I noticed when going from hps to led and I run mammoth so my spectrum is a good match to hps , wouldn't it be more cost effective to use some of the newer ir light bars over hps

  2. I have grown my own weed indoors in a 4'x4' grow tent using either 400 watt, or 600 watt HPS lamps for about thirty-five years and have often considered trying LED lights but have never found a good reason to change what I am doing. My results have always been very good. Also, every LED manufacturer claims their lights are the best, and they are all expensive. I wouldn't know who to trust. I will just stick with what I know.

  3. They aren’t wrong about the lighting. I’ve heard about the use of reds before. The marketing talk of these guys is very off putting. Trap rooms, really? Guys like that are in this strictly for the money. Culture vultures.

  4. smart idea guys mimic the sun well done with the reds nice now ramp down time like outside at the end of flower more solid buds more tricheome developement more turps you guys doin great keep it up FREE THE WEED! PEACE!

  5. It's spectrum and intensity… that's it. Can LED give you that? Absolutely. There isn't a spectrum you can't get with LED that you can with HPS. Just more bro science.

  6. On paper led is king, on paper a high end led light emits 220 lumens per watt, while a high end hps light emits max 160 lumens per watt. A led produces more "light" per watt of electricity consumed vs HPS.

  7. The humidity argument depends on where you live… I depend on my HPS lamps to keep humidity down because I am in a coastal city and our average daily humidity is 70% – 98%… Flowering 60 plants with no humidifier at all.
