In so. California, in the early 70s, we had the Helms Bakery truck that came around once a week. Kind of like the ice cream truck but with the best donuts & bakery goodies. It was a truck with drawers behind the rear doors. Super yummy!
Our local pd actually made signs to know where your kids are and what they are doing……it actually said at the bottom, nowadays pay attention instead of finding out when the streetlights come on
it didn't matter if you missed Cartoons. it would be reran eventually. We actually had to listen to the radio for school closings. we lived to far from the city to be listed on TV.. uphill both ways. that was the way it was and we liked it!
Prank phone calls, did. Saturday cartoons, for sure. Hanging with friends on our bikes, with cards in the spokes. Catching lightning bugs. My town a siren would go off at 7. And played in the snow. Shovel neighbors driveways for some cash.. great times.
I loved hopping on my spiffy new Spyder bike and pedaling to Sandy Beach in Juneau AK. in the 1970s. ๐
i remember how much fun growing up in the 50's and playing with myself, lol
Gen X memories for sure
I miss the old land line phone……….which might not ring for the whole day.
Switch hockey! For some reason I'm good at it!
My friend's and I made so many prank phone calls.
One was to call random phone numbers from the white pages.
Staying over at friend's houses and in those days (in the 1960') were called "Slumber parties" NOT called " Sleepovers" back then.
When did slumber parties change to be called Sleepovers??

2:13 – The sad reality is that virtually every unknown caller now is a scammer, so unlike in yesteryear, we shouldn't answer any unknown calls.
Dealing wit Facebook drama lol 'Well thats if your on facebook my good man…!
For school closures it was radio for us being rural. Local AM station. The tv from the city did go through rural but took forever.
Miss being a kid. So much. Even tho I'm Gen Z ๐๐๐
Party lines! Pure evil when talking to my boyfriend!
It's not that we 'don't bother' answering for someone we don't know, it's that they're always Indian scammers! I miss when they didn't exist.
