49 thoughts on “Rebuilding A Flooded $2,000,000 McLaren P1 | Part 10

  1. Yeah as an automotive engineer who works on electronics, I'm all for it. Those electric systems are needlessly complicated just to show off the manufacturer's latest tech. You don't need it.

  2. Can't really call it a P1 anymore, you could take the body off a ford fiesta and put custom body panels on it to look like a P1, it would be the same as what you have here…

  3. Definitely lose that heavy hybrid garbage, just weighing you down and making it slower! Can’t wait for the next video…..don’t let these clowns in the comments try to change your mind on it.

  4. Getting rid of the hybrid system was a very smart idea. After much research (watching Rich rebuilds video on it). It'll out perform a normal P1 and stay true to the F1 build Tavarish had in mind.

  5. I can't wait to see this thing when it's done. I hope that Freddy takes some time to hone his skills or hires a pro diver. It's going to be Bananas.

  6. I'm not an expert. ditching The McLaren P1's battery, is there an alternative? like getting a hybrid battery system from atleast a Prius, or Old Tesla's? Though it sounds impossible

  7. Fred, I just saw Rich Rebuilds video. I was not aware so many people kind of attacked you for saying you are going to delete the hybrid system. I had to come back to read my original comment, and I really don't think I attacked you or called you any bad names. I was mainly interested in knowing if the P1 without the hybrid system would be quicker. It would be fairly easy to make it faster (you will be removing a lot of weight). The instant torque of the electric motor makes hybrids really quick. The V Engineering UK trip you took, the guys had said they redesigned the battery to be better and lighter. I had no idea they want $120k for their battery. Maybe you could do a collab with someone like Aging Wheels or Electric Supercar or someone (other than Rich who suggested you delete it in the first place) and build a battery. I personally think Rich just wants to see your channel tank, but that's just me. It's your call. I am not going to unsubscribe. I just asked if (after SEMA), somewhere down the line, if you would consider adding the hybrid system back. If I lent you $100k for the battery, would you do it? Best wishes.

  8. Hey Freddy, just wanted to say all the people crying about you removing the hybrid system don't know what they're talking about…dumping all that extra weight and complexity out of an already immensely complex project can only be a winning move for your P1. I hope everything comes together in time for sema. Keep up the great work brother, God bless!

  9. This is going to be a P1 that might be faster than stock with that weight savings from the hybrid system. Can't wait to see how the difference will be with a regular P1.

  10. unless someone give to Tavarish a Brand New and More Powerfull Eletrical Engine with at least +300HP, and lighter and powerfull Bateries, is nonsense keep a Old hybrid System, thats makes the car Slower and Heavier. On track 720S is just 0,5s slower than P1, and P1 has 916 HP combined vs 720s with 720hp. So THIS P1 wil be the lightest P1 over the planet and with 1000HP+ will be the FASTEST P1 ON PLANET also. GO GO GO GO TAVARISH….

  11. Since you are removing the electric aspect of the hybrid system i recon you could supercharge and turbocharge it. (I know it sounds like a new way to blow a motor but it has been done on insanely fast cars eg Lancia delta s4) because if you supercharge it, it will cover the low rpm boost (that the hybrid system once covered) until the turbos spool and deal with the high end boost. And this addition would make the car truly unique and quick as well as fast.
    Just a thought…

  12. bro, this is a unique built! I love the way the car is going. Make it fast and unique. Thank all this butthurts crying about a car that its not theirs! if it hurts you so much, buy one and fit it yourself to me. Building a unique p1 is more fun than keeping it original for the resell value

  13. Ahh man, i normally dont react to videos, but man you just need that hybrid system to let the p1 be the p1.. for some reason i just dont want to watch the updates like i did before what is sad because i do like you and your videos 🙁

  14. I started watching this and stopped exactly when Freddy made the 'announcement'. I have to admit, I clicked out. But after hearing how 'the community' has reacted, I came back to finish this out.

I think there's an obvious "Ship of Theseus" argument to be made about how much you can change and still be able to call this a P1, and admittedly, my first reaction was that removing the hybrid system was a bridge too far. But Rich made an incredible point in his video … incredibly little from the original vehicle is still going to be in place and the hybrid system is really just another thing getting changed, and if I'm OK with the changes made to the engine/transmission, why is the hybrid system any different? Again, I think it's practically all that makes it a P1 given how many parts are shared by the other cars, but …

At the end of the day, while I wouldn't say Freddy is going to have a unique 1 of 1 P1 … He is definitely going to have a McLaren that has a unique story, and just getting that thing running in any form is a Herculean effort. And I'll keep watching just to see how it turns out.
