11. Ron govney was the original bassist for metallica and even before metallica . The original leather charm project band consisted of ron govney James hetfield and I believe Lars Ulrich. Then ron left the band I believe way before the first album was created and brought in cliff and Dave Mustaine as the bassist and guitarist for metallica . Then Dave Mustain got fired from metallica because of the Mustain dog scratching the car of Lars at the time and then James brought in kirk hammet which was the guitarist from exodus before metallica. And since then It was mostly James, kirk, Lars and cliff until cliff sadly passed away after master of puppets in a tragic bus accident. Then jason nested came in as the bassist from and justice for all to reload and left the band during st anger which Bob Rock took the temporary job as the bassist of metallica until Trujillo came in after st angers release and since then Trujillo has been the permanent bassist in metallica

    And, maybe beyond that. BUT, I do know that Metallica's original bassist was Cliff Burton, and the reason that Cliff is NO LONGER in Metallica is because when Metallica had been on tour in Sweden, the bands BUS had crashed on a road that had been ICY, and CLIFF had been KILLED. The bus had rolled onto its side. From the interviews I've seen and heard after the accident, that KIRK had been wanting to sleep where Cliff had been, BUT, Cliff had won the argument, and,so HE ended up sleeping where HE had ended up UNFORTUNATELY being, Lets just be BLUNT about it. He had been KILLED by being in that spot.

    Cliff Burton had been the first bassist in Metallica. And, it had been Cliff that had insisted that Metallica remain in San Francisco. At 1 time Metallica did have Dave Mustaine as the lead guitarist. I had heard that Dave Mustaine had been FIRED from Metallica because he had been a "mean drunk". And, that the other "Metallidudes" had been "Happy drunks".

    I am now confused as to just who the hell would now come along and maybe try to make nice with ANY of the people that would try to make any sense of these new meanings of any STUFF.

26. Duh Cliff Burton died so umm he couldn't exactly keep playing lol He was actually kinda the soul of the band until his death, and is still considered one of the best metal bassists ever. I think he died in the major accident they had on the tour bus. So sad that great/famous musicians die young so often. Burton – bus accident. Stevie Ray Vaughan – helicopter crash. Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines – plane crash. Morrison's death is still a matter of debate and conspiracy theories. Cobain – shotgun blast (most likely self inflicted, but theories still go on) Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix of course. They were all great, most of them were geniuses at their craft. There's also Richie Valens (Valenzuela) Buddy Holly, and the big bopper who died together in a plane crash. John Lennon, Bob Marley, and Elvis. I'm not really a fan of those last 6, but still respect their talent. Also have to mention Robert Johnson who supposedly sold his soul to become such a great blues man. Johnson, Cobain, Morrison, Joplin, and Hendrix are all part of the so called 27 club: a list of major musicians who died at 27. Stevie Ray made it to 35. If Jimi and Stevie Ray had lived long lives, there's no telling how much more amazing music would have been created. The same is true for Morrison and the members of Skynyrd. Stevie Ray was the most amazing blues man to ever live, even according to other greats who were his friends and who also called him the greatest. He was an open channel according to Eric Clapton, and he's right. It was like Stevie wasn't playing the music, but rather he was a conduit that allowed the music to flow through him from some other worldly divine source of perfection. He was the only player Clapton ever saw who never paused for even a moment to think about where to go next. He seemed to just let it flow and not have any need for thought. He has inspired, and continues to inspire every person who ever picked up a guitar since then who likes the blues or even just soulful rock and roll. RIP all you legends. I'll steal a line from other legends and just say "come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr and shine."

34. Cliff Burton was the original bassist right? He died when their tour bus crashed, crushing him under the wreckage when the bus had turned over. He was an absolute legend and we miss him everyday. Just goes to show, keep your loved ones close because ANYTHING can happen at ANY moment
