31 thoughts on “Is this the Foo Fighters new drummer?

  1. We won’t find out who the touring drummer is until FF hit the stage. It’s gonna be Josh Freese or Rufus Taylor. Josh is super busy but might want to slow down a bit. He just turned 50 and has a wife and 3 kids. Would he commit to just one band? Idk.

Rufus is 31 and has been a member of The Darkness for 8 years. I don’t think the Justin Hawkins would have a hard time with Rufus joining a bigger band. Would Dave want to look back at the spitting image of Hawkins with the same hawk tattoo every night? Maybe.

Will find out if it’s Josh or Taylor May 24th when they hit the stage. 🤔

  2. Josh Freese 100% The man is a legend in drumming and music. You forgot to mention that he also plays with Sting. Playing Stewart Copeland songs who is every drummers favorite drummer

  3. It would be apropos if Rufus stepped up as Shane Hawkins mentor and guide the young man to his potential greatness, semi arc. As Taylor found inspiration in Roger Taylor.

  4. Rufus Taylor is my prediction for a permanent replacement. That or Dave plays on the albums and they bring a friend on tour to play drums live, like Phil Collins did.

  5. Have a look at his full CV, Chris Cornell too and that's him on Avril's first album, that band new radicals, that's him too but wouldnt be a fan of those. His full time band vandals are one of my favourite bands, excellent drummer.

  6. Josh Freese, absolutely top pick. Not only for his chops and experience, but if you see him in interviews, on his instagram, and on stage, he's a workhorse but also has so much charisma and positivity, and his attitude really seems to fall in line perfectly with the band. He's goofy and kind, but also very committed and serious.

  7. I'd more expect it to be Shane Hawkins over anyone else.
It's not as unlikely as you say, look at Nic Collins, for example, which filled the shoes of his father, Phil, at the age of 15/16

  8. At a darkness show last week Justin Hawkins kept mentioning Rufus in such a way that it struck as a goodbye to someone who wasn’t ready to announce he was leaving. But he’d be an amazing replacement for Taylor and I don’t think his bandmates would be upset at all.

  9. I think Josh Freese would be the best fit, only because seeing him play at the tribute show of all the drummers he seem to have the best chemistry with these guys. not taking anything away from the other drummers, but I felt really comfortable watching him. I almost felt like I was watching Taylor! Close my eyes and it wasON!
