Did MTV’s legendary 90s show Beavis & Butthead save metal? Some of what I look at in this video:
* The history of how Mike Judge created Beavis & Butthead on MTV
* How Beavis & Butthead helped 90s metal bands like Pantera, White Zombie, Danzig, Tool, Crowbar, Primus and more
* When Beavis & Butthead accidentally ruined Winger’s career with Stewart
* Classic metal bands like Judas Priest, Motorhead, Scorpions, and King Diamond who got a boost from Beavis & Butthead
* Mike Judge’s legacy with Office Space, Idiocracy, King Of The Hill, Silicon Valley and more

  1. 3:23 – did you even Animaniacs, bro?
That show had way more adult humor than you'd think ("fingerprints"). I think by the early 90s, because of The Simpsons and Ren & Stimpy, more people were warming to the idea of cartoons being more than just children's fluff. The 80s had all those toy-commercial cartoon shows, but those were outweighed by plenty of great animated shows the next decade. More adults and teens watched them no problem, it's how we got Cartoon Network.

  2. I wasn't allowed to watch it. I remember waiting til my mom went to bed, sneaking back into the living room. I would turn on the tv with the volume really low, and sit with my face up against the speaker and hope my mom didn't wake when I laughed, lol.

  3. I really got into Milla Jovavich's album for Beavis & Butthead. It was just weird and different. I liked it. I also got into White Zombie from B&B.

  4. Classic show that still makes me laugh out loud. Definitely influential in both music and pop culture. You hit it 💯 on the head, ya fart knocker uh huh huh huh 🤘

  5. Mike judge really is so good at what he does. Silicon valley is one of my favorite shows as well, but pretty much all of his stuff is in the top of my favorite shows/movies.

  6. Interesting fact I believe the only band they truly hated was Grim reaper who got roasted a total of three times as it turns out the members of Grim Reaper were huge fans of Beavis and Butthead as the story goes Mike Judge ran into them & thought they were going to kick his ass they were fans & thanked him for giving them notoriety

  7. That show was excellent and the "B&B-chuckle" was a hallmark of the 1990s. Althemore strange that neither Metallica's nor AC/DC's Wiki-page mention B&B under "cultural references". It's like leaving out Woodstock on the Wiki-page for "Open Air-Festivals"

  8. I was born in 89, so I was a little young for Beavis & Butthead when it was originally on, tho I was aware of it. When I was in like maybe 8th or 9th grade tho my buddies and I used to take the bus to our boy Chris’s mom’s apartment on the other side of town and chill and smoke mad weed bc she didn’t seem to care what we did. He had all of the Beavis & Butthead series on DVD, which were kinda new and snazzy at the time. We would get so baked and watch that show and just die laughing. Good times. Ha.

  9. there are 2 types of irish.ones that tell a ton of bad jokes and dont get they are not funny.and serious irish that dont try to be funny and funny goes right over their head.

  10. Mike Judge went on to give Winger free promotion in neutral lights on King Of The Hill.

Perhaps, to make up for it even symbolically, sad their career was pretty much over by then though. I'm sure that didn't hurt though. Unlike in Beavis & Butt-Head…

  11. I discovered so many great bands on Beavis & Butthead. Sick Of It All, Nudeswirl, Entombed, Morbid Angel, the Melvins, Quicksand, Monster Magnet, etc. Sometimes it was a better musical resource than Headbanger's Ball.
