What great journey! Getting you back on the trail is always a good time.
What engine is in his 80? Is it the stock inline V6? Everyone says the 80 is under powered but if that engine can make it through these trails, THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS.
Didn’t realize the bell housing wasn’t replaceable, my bad.
Why did they swap entire transmissions and not just the bell housing? 8:38
I stop watching donut years ago.. but these roadtrip series got me hooked!!!!
Not bad for a 30 year old vehicle! It held its own. Minor coolant hose issue but quick fix worked out.
Not sure if it’s the same on a land cruiser but my 90’s suburban had a brace on both sides of the trans to the frame. It was only put on the 4wd models due to the potential for more stress and torsion. Given your land cruiser was converted from 2wd to 4wd, i wonder if you’re missing something like that? Someone with a factory 4wd model could advise
Tim looks like Mac from super troopers!
Matt was disappointed 😅
Hell yeah @solvefunction
These guys are literally the only reason why I watch this show right now.
I want to be successful enough in life to afford this kind of hobby😂
that compressor kicking on in the background every other second could be the issue of the rear lock?
@16:35 vehicles will shut off if it is in drive and rolls backwards while transmission is in drive. likely a safety measure not to break stuff.
This series has really put this team to the test! You could tell Deal was a bit stressed by the end, and who wouldn’t be after destroying
Uncle Dimas truck in Utah, then that massive transmission crack, and then the truck overheating on the trail… just one thing after another. Cars are pain. Curious to see what happens when you get back to LA and if you tear that rear diff apart and figure out why the locker doesn’t work so well.
ARB air lockers…. the worst design ever.
I?
Best donut content in a long time. The hosts flow well together and it doesn’t feel fake and forced like the recent trajectory of the channel.
Great series
This series is one of the best things on YouTube.
Replacing a transmission with a “new one” that has 350k miles is amazing and hilarious. Only a Toyota.
I would at least put J be weld on it
New turd.
The mistake these guys made was doing all suspension and armor. It needs proper baselining which is replacing every hose, entire cooling system, and a lot of other engine related replacements. Once those are rock solid go ahead and do suspension/drive train.
❤❤❤ coolest videos in such a long time. Vlog style, with great editing. Very fun docu style
The fact that you probably spent 50k on the suspension mods and didn't touch the engine is wild to me

Do you think my k2500 350 block V8 stock suburban could make that trail??
Nice ! Sweet 80. Hudd expo has a nice skid plate for you.
