10. People will stop buying new cars. The few wealthy enough people that don't give a flying F about the extra money won't be enough for them to justify them keeping the subscription model.

The only things that make sense are Hotspot/WiFi, xm radio, Google services and OnStar which require entire departments to be set up to help run the service but heated seats/steering, full self driving, rear wheel steering, seed increase or remote start are dumb as those are already built into the car and don’t require a support service based elsewhere.

13. You can buy a seat heater pad thing for like $20. You plug it into the cigarette lighter and they usually have a multi setting switch. A subscription is pathetic.

15. When I first heard about this, I was a bit scandalized, but the more I thought about it the more sense it made. This allows those who don't want or need an option to not have to pay for it, while letting the manufacturer streamline the manufacture and make parts universal fit, making repair cheaper as well. So, I am not sure most people or even the people who thought this up think that way, but that's how I see it. They basically made options stock, then you can pay for them later, but you don't have to. Later on I see these being hackable so once you are off your warranty it'll be pretty cheap to unlock or free if you are a coding god.

    Drive subscription is just a lease, right?

19. Heated seats might not be comfortable to use in the summer. You don't need to pay for the summer months.

27. I can't express how much I love this new wave of subscription based car features. What it effectively means is that your car comes with the hardware that you might save up upfront cost on, and then just download a Crack or unlocker or something, and just unlock all features for free. Because everyone knows there will 100% be people hacking and unlocking cars.

28. GM thinks I'm willing to spend $135 a month on subscriptions if they're "compelling?" OK sure, I'll pay $135 a month if Mary Barra pops out of the glovebox to give me a blowy.
