Read Time:2 Minute, 59 Second

This is hands-down the most important episode to tune into if you consume, cultivate, handle, or have anything to do with the plant and don’t want to have a hard time with law enforcement.

Blackleaf is joined in the studio by the famed Pot Brothers At Law (@pot_brothers_at_law), aka Craig and Mark Wasserman of Wasserman Law, to discuss countless scenarios where their copyrighted #STFU© script comes incredibly handy when dealing with the police. They also discuss their deep familial connection to the industry through Craig’s son and founder of West Coast Cure, J Cures, and how they became a global sensation for being the first to offer free legal tips on social media for the past 8 years.

The Pot Brothers at Law, Craig and Marc Wasserman, are Southern California-based herb and criminal defense attorneys who have become viral sensations by simply educating the public on their legal rights. Through their weekly “Shut The Fuck Up Friday” (#STFUfriday) campaign, they teach individuals how to handle police encounters by sticking to a simple, effective script.

Leveraging Marc’s Hollywood background and Craig’s legal expertise of over 30+ years, they’ve built a massive social media presence, attracting millions of followers with engaging and impactful content. Now expanding into media ventures like weekly Zoom sessions and potential movie-related projects, they continue to advocate for consumer’s rights while entertaining and educating a global audience.

Craig and Marc cover nearly every situation where you might encounter the police as someone who is caught in the act of smoking, is in possession of, or transporting, large quantities of herb. This includes wild stories from Craig about why it’s so important to invoke the 5th amendment during an arrest, the most common and random reasons you get pulled over, and the (il)legality of smoking in public or flying with herb on you. These two have literally seen it all since they’ve been defending consumers and industry members since the early days of Prop 215.

If you listen real closely to this pod you might also gain invaluable insight on the best ways to start up your own legal brand in CA in today’s competitive market and potentially save a pretty penny on licensing.

One thing that becomes abundantly clear in this episode is that if you’re in the mindset of taking your traditional brand into the legal market or even starting one from scratch, Craig and Marc should be the first people you talk to. Even if you aren’t based in California, these two have built a global network of resources that may be able to point you in the right direction. The other glaringly clear message from this episode is that if you’re even in doubt when encountering the police, SHUT THE FUCK UP, and STICK TO THE SCRIPT.
The SCRIPT©
“Why did you pull me over?”
“I’m not discussing my day”
“Am I being detained or am I free to go?©
(if detained) “I INVOKE THE 5TH!” then SHUT THE FUCK UP™

I do not consent to a search!
To any police officer or law enforcement personnel:
“I am invoking my 5th Amendment Miranda Rights and will only speak to you with my attorney present. Please allow me to contact my attorney.”

  2. I've had more crossed with the law for weed than your average person like a lot more all because of being stereotyped because I have had long hair my whole life and I got ink and my yt name last 24 yrs lmfao

  3. Oklahoma has went full reaper madness now Oklahoma bureau of narcotics is going after everybody a lot of people believe they're trying to get rid of our program altogether

  4. Why doesn't anyone ever talked about the fact that traffic stops don't have complaining witnesses. A police officer is a representative of the state they cannot be your accuser. Every traffic stop in history is illegal and unconstitutional.

  5. 14:10 Dont BS the guy. he can smell it. HE knows it before he even gets to your window. I was in this exact situation. I continued to puff on the blunt, why waste it? I knew i was busted. HE chuckled as he seen me putting the roach out in the ash tray as i rolled the window down. He asked if I felt that my "Marijuana" use effects my ability to operate a motor vehicle. I said Absolutely not, Ive been consuming CANNABIS since I was 14. He asked if id submit to a field sobriety test, I told him sure lets have some fun! I passed with flying colors. He made me stamp the roach, and the little bit of shake that was left after the roll I had scooped into a Cellophane, into the gravel and let us go. Had I been a asshat about it, tried to lie, it surely would have angered him.. insulting his intelligence.. Just be Honest and considerate. 9/10 This will make the encounter play out in a massively different way than if you act a fool.

  6. had some friends go harvest 50 plants parked at the back of the bar at like 12am before last call just wanted to have a cold beer and well ya the smell was hard to conceal lol

  7. I keep a spare set of license plate lights in my glove box for this specific reason. I once got pulled over on the way to NH. For one of the plate lights out. But it was a led bulb. And led bulbs were fairly new. So they would blink flash or just not work sometimes b.c of the low quality of the technology. And I knew I had to replace them so I got a new pair. And just hadn't changed it yet because when I went to change it..of course it was working that day😂😂. I told the officer I was aware of the light and that it's been working on and off, and I have a set of new ones in the glove box. And I am on my way to reppace the bulbs. He asked to see them. He said, "Make sure you get them changed out when you get to your destination." And then said If you didn't have those with you, I would have given you a ticket." Now..idk is probably a nice officer. Or if it's actually law. B.c I have the replacement part on hand and on the way to get it replaced 🤷🤷 but I now just keep a replacement set in the glove box just in case they use that as the reason why they pulled me over.
Don't drink and drive!! 💨💨 and fly!!
