I had a lightly modified sv6 (cams, tune, factory manual) that spun a bearing. So I bought a m140i as my daily and rebuilt the VE over the course of the year as a project (it was the 2010 sidi. So a bit of a unicorn engine, made getting a good bottom end hard. In the end. I put an LFX crank in the LLT and replaced everything. Rings, bearings, oil pump, you name it)
A guy on FB wanted to buy it to give to his son as his first car and to "learn how to drive a manual" negotiations went well and with a little wiggling on price, requested changes and waiting for roadworthy items we had a deal. And a month later i had the car in the state the guy wanted.
He had been seeing a few times inspecting the car and it was very clear the guy had money from mining or some industrial work and just expected things to work his way all the time. No isn't something he's used to hearing.
Eventually we get everything sorted for the RWC and his wife picks it up. Only to demonstrate she is not be able to drive a manual very well as she's leaving. (At this point I've also handed over all the photos of the rebuild. Receipts for tuning etc etc)
Sure enough. 2 weeks later. The abuse started.
Demands that i offer warranty on my work and that i should replace the clutch as it's now been destroyed by his P plater son. That i should be paying for another engine rebuild as the water pump seal leaked. Threats to my mechanic for providing a dodgy RWC (when in fact. That was probably the most through RWC I've ever had)
Thankfully. The mechanic that assessed the car wasn't putting up with his shit and could demonstrate the list of things detected during the initial assessment including photos and the list of repairs including photos.
Humans can be weird sometimes and i hope that that car is still running today

'84 Nissan Datsun bluebird. weakest link on those was the diff, so if you were like me in '97 and chucked a turbo on it that developed a whopping 180hp and by the time the mechanic swapped the carby for a new manifold and injectors, ported the heads, new intake system, ecu, exhaust manifold and exhaust system that all up totally wasn't worth the money you keep breaking diffs. pick and pay less loved me and i could swap a bluebird diff out in 30 minutes flat. in hindsight i probably should have installed a slightly heavier diff.
I reckon chemicals were in there well before you started cleaning 😂😂

That VT commodore was a sweet looking car. I had one brand new it was my first new car. To say a baby seat wouldn’t fit is a lie as we bought up two kids in our VT and when we bought another car in 2006 we got a great deal for the VT.

Found a 3.5in floppy disk under the back seat of my 1993 Mx-6. It contained WordPress files for school assignments. On there I was able to find the kids resume and was able to call him and find out his dad was the original owner of the car up in Canada.
