For a short time it seemed that NFTs were everywhere, you couldn’t avoid stories of an average guy making millions from them, then all of a sudden, they were gone. What happened and why were people paying so much money for effectively a jpeg?

3:49 dude. It’s not like a deed. For so many reasons. It’s real property, intrinsic value, legally enforceable ownership.
You can’t even use your nft to sue people who post nyan cat.
“Gold is money, everything else is credit” This is the principle I live by atm
Yet I'm still getting tons of messages on ArtStation asking me to use my art for NFTs. Idiots.
Legal Eagle had a great video about how NFTs were smoke because of contract law.
It was practicaly designed to collapse.
While morons were investing in NFTs, I was investing in ETFs😂
This was the most obvious scam ever. Too much money desperate for a place to land.
NFTs were a great way to tell someone with more money than brains, and a great vessel for scamming said dumb people and laundering money
As a digital artist, it’s an intriguing concept, but the biggest problem with it is something you mentioned in passing. Without any kind of independent authority to verify that the person minting the NFT was in any way the copyright holder or rightful owner of the image, it left anything and everything “up for grabs” and the result was that artists’ work was exploited and commodified by people looking to make a quick buck, a far worse position than we were in before the whole situation started
At least there are now fewer Damien Hirst paintings in the world. I'd call that a win.
In the world , when govenrment issue money have largerly notional value and are in computers …. people believing in NFT and crypto are truly sign of downfall of civilisation and critical thinking. 16:48 – when AI buble turns into VEI 8 E.L.E 😉 it will make for similar video – sadly, we won't be able to afford to watch it.
Why does it matter if China decides to drop the Nukes in a few years?
Good on Charmin for being early as all NFTs are toilet paper now
Can you look into hedera and its hashgraph technology?
You will thank me later.
A fraud 8:27
I miss nfts in this era of ai slop
I feel like you misrepresented Damian Hurst a bit here. He sold his dot series as either physical copies or NFTs. If you chose the physical copy, great, heres your painting. The NFT buyers go their token, and look, now it’s the only version around. It wasn’t so much that he was all in on NFTs, but more he was making a point about them by burning the original paintings – when they are all that’s left, are they still art? Or is it just the memory of art?
I have a rock that keeps tigers away.
i still remember these idiots who tried to insult people with "right click mentality" 😀
anyone with at least 3 working braincells had known this is 100% fraud, scam and manipulated "prices" for a simple hyperlink. this is so brilliant brought to the "puplic market", i had weeks of entertainment 😀
RTFKT is pronounced “Artifact” lol
Nah, I think LLM hype and NFT hype are quite different mate. But I agree we could maybe say it comes from the same human Instinct or something like that. But one has a tangible promise the other does not. In my opinion the NFT mania was even worse than the tulip mania frim Amsterdam back in the day…
Gary Vee's gotten real quiet about NFTs now
I knew it would crash. The problem with NFTs is that there was literally nothing having the value, nothing tangible. Contrary to what people think, cash still is somewhat tied to gold, and all physical art is physical.
2:08 According to critical thinkers, 100% of NFTs were and are WORTHLESS.
Pirate Bay decreased the value of movies first.
NFTs took it to the stratosphere.
All of the dumb things this decade have been coming out of Trumps country 🇺🇸😂
The technology, yeah sure! Try to legally enforce possession of a house only because the blockchain says it's yours. Good luck!
Bitcoin works because we are already used to attribute value to worthless piece of papers we call banknotes and in this case ownership of the bitcoin is all you need to enforce possession.
Money is a collective delusion that we need to make the society to scale.
Possession of something physical through token is just a delusion, period.
I remember when these first came out. I thought it was stupid then, and I was right.
