From being one of the most used operating systems to becoming a universally ridiculed, Windows has been negatively transformed by Microsoft’s own decisions. And it’s all by design. In this episode, we take a look.

37 thoughts on “The Windows 11 Crisis

  1. Microsoft dominated the console space for ONE generation and introduced season passes, online subscriptions, DLC packs for single player game and alwasy online DRM in the console space.

ive never understood xbox users or gamepass glorifiers. you just contribute to this shit

  2. Ok but OneDrive and Copilot can be uninstalled in literally a minute and Office is useless for home users so there's zero reason to pay for it. I'm not defending Microsoft in any way, just pointing out that you can protect yourself to some extent.

  3. After growing frustration with Windows both on my work and personal computers, the most recent issues with Windows at work finally convinced me that my next personal computer should not be Windows. I dabbled in Linux a while back, but after loving my iPhone and iPad for the last 5 years or so, I decided to go Mac OS on my next personal computer. So far, so good, and absolutely don’t miss Windows. I’d be THRILLED if my company IT switched to Mac, but that’s doubtful for a while. In the meantime, I had no reason to ever go back to Windows when the choice is mine.

  4. In the 90's, Japanese computer and OS manufacturers warned that Microsoft's attempt at standardizing and monopolizing the OS market was anticompetitive and would lead to lower quality products and MS becoming too rich and powerful. And although Windows was alright for a while, it seems they were ultimately correct.

  5. There are enough normies to accept/allow/ignore/ this. It will be enough to fund MS for the next 10 years. If it's not critical/necessary to use MS in your life/job — why are you not on Linux already? Seriously.

  6. I've wasted so much time because of reboots that I had to do when Windows crashes. I have not been using windows for almost 2 decades now and I don't miss it, probably saved me at least a total of 2 months of my life that would have been spent looking at a blue screen if I were using Windows.

  7. No one is going to move away from Windows on a large scale. Not enough to make an impact. Unless a better OS somehow shows up that looks and feels EXACTLY like Windows and has the same level of software support. Just without the trash. Which I don't think anyone is working on. Linux is trash for anything but development. MacOS is pretty bad software support wise, and probably even the UI/UX. It may be performant and clean but I much prefer the windows UI. Well, they've slowly been running it to the ground but unfortunately there's no alternative.

  8. Never buy a PC with Windows based OS or any of its component that comes with it. It's a major security risk when everything is moved to the cloud and I don't know what they are doing with the information saved in the cloud.

  9. I'm watching this on a laptop that is running Linux Mint as Windows became almost impossible to run due to all the bloatware. It was so slow when starting up, taking minutes to open up a browser, and even then very slow perfomance. Now my laptop runs without any issues since "upgrading" to Linux. Would recommend everyone to at least try it out.

  10. Well, when Microsoft saw PC sales going down, and learned that Google was successful in giving Android and Chrome OS away for free but using the Google network to make money, Microsoft decided to turn Windows into a Microsoft sales platform. People don't want to pay $100 or $200 for an OS, when they see Google giving theirs away for free. It also helps make PCs cheaper. The same thing has happened with large screen televisions; the OS on it is now full of ads, but this helps make a 4K 60" TV only cost $200.

  11. I have been a certified PC tech…I started building and selling computers in 1996. I have been warning people about Microsoft since the roll out of Windows XP. We used to say Windows 2000 was the best operating system ever built. Microsoft spends 80% of their R&D planning the obsolescence of their previous versions. TPM gave the a "key to the Kingdom" to force people to comply with their updates. This is pure collusion between another abjectly corrupt company (Intel) and Microsoft. Together TPM gave them practical control of the world….Folks YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHIN YET.

  12. The trouble with being a publically traded company is that once short-term thinking to maximise shareholder value seeps in, there's basically no way back. The perverse incentives have taken over and are virtually locked in at that point. There's nothing the directors can do unless the shareholders consent – which they most likely won't unless they can expect an immediate return.
