The FSOTD team is smack-dab in the middle of a Barcelona Social Club for this episode abroad, featuring one of the most prolific modern artists in the industry alongside the owner of the establishment that houses some of his most iconic artwork.

Blackleaf sits down in La Crème Gràcia with Pieter van Tongeren aka @mossygiant, and Stefan (@lacremegracia_bcn), to discuss everything surrounding the culture from the birth of his artwork and how others interpret it, to his creative process, the history of Hashishans, to Stefan escaping France to pursue his dream of opening (what would become) one of the most prominent social clubs in the world, the endless struggles he faced over the past decade and some change, and so much more.

What you have to remember about this episode is that Blackleaf and the team are filming in the center of a bustling social club. Later in the pod, you’ll get to see a guest appearance from Bryan aka @boxbrown, an equally prolific 🍃cartoonist, and how he actually works alongside Mossy Giant to nudge ideas along or offer overarching feedback.

For the uninitiated, Mossy Giant is a visionary Dutch artist who blends street art aesthetics with psychedelic surrealism to create iconic illustrations for the 🍃 world. He gained widespread recognition for his work with brands like Alien Labs and Grove Bags, designing trippy, otherworldly characters that define their visual identity. His bold use of color, layered symbolism, and sci-fi-meets-fantasy style makes his art instantly recognizable in rec shops and packaging in general. Through collaborations with top-tier cultivators, Mossy Giant has helped shape the look and feel of cannasseur culture today.

One of the funniest stories you can’t miss during this episode is when Mossy Giant talks about some of the places that fans have hung up his artwork in their home to be able to take the time to inspect it and deeply appreciate its intricacies. We’ll give you a hint…it’s where we all do some of our best thinking. 🚽

If you aren’t familiar with Stefan—you should be. Stefan van Swieten is the French-born owner of La Crème Gràcia, a 🍃social club in Barcelona’s Gràcia neighborhood. For over a decade, he has cultivated a welcoming, community-focused environment that prioritizes affordability and quality for local members.

One of the biggest conversation points throughout this pod is Mossy Giant’s “The Grand History of 🍃.” Stefan collaborated with Dutch artist Mossy Giant to commission this large-scale illustrated project that adorns the club’s walls and chronicles herb history from ancient times to the present. Despite recent challenges, including a police raid on his club, Stefan remains a dedicated advocate for the social club model and its cultural significance in Barcelona.

There’s so much history crammed into this conversation. From the books that Pieter is publishing to his overarching “Grand History of 🍃” that will also eventually become a book to the ongoing art projects at La Crème Gràcia, as well as Mossy Giant’s other artistic endeavors and Stefan’s library that he hordes at his home, you seriously can’t miss a minute of this podcast with two European legends.
