  23. I fought savage depression for years. I came as close as a 4lb trigger pull away from leaving my wife forever with a newborn son. I waited for a weekend my wife left for my in laws house out of state. I drove to a dark parking area near a fishing spot on a small stream in the town I grew up in (a place I fished with my Dad as a child). I was going to use my brand new Colt 1911. I felt the cold steel on my temple, finger on the trigger. The click of my finger beginning to depress the trigger snapped me awake. I was drunk. I was 3lbs away from death. I snapped into a new conciousness. I couldnt do it. I thought of my new baby son. I chose life while staring death in the face. I went home, jerked off and then joined the military the following day. Once I had purpose, (individual purpose) I got better.
    That was almost 4 years ago. I'm still in the military and I'm still alive.
    To all my brothers out there who hurt, the way out is easy. Stay and live my brothers. You have a purpose!
    I'm still married and we've got another kid on the way!
