  1. Grew up in the back of a Golf MK2. It was a simple low spec model in '70s brown (even though it was an 80s car). It really didn't leave an impression on me I must say, although it might have been a good car.

  2. I'm in the UK and a big fan of VW's
    I used to have a few Mk2's if you couldn't already tell.
    My favourite was a 5 door 1.3CL 4+e that i converted to a Mk3 GTI 16v (ABF) engine with a mk4 (02J) gearbox after blowing up many mk2 gearboxes. it had the Mk3 wide track and 5-stud with VR6 brakes.
    With just a 2.5" exhaust and de-cat it made 162bhp and topped out at 150mph on the rev limit.
    It was a huge blast. I had so much fun racing alongside Civic Type R's and Astra VXR's and the look on their faces was priceless!

  3. The Autobahn is also the reason that German cars handle so well and are built so well.
    Because it is legal to do that speed in Germany, the cars they build have to be able to cope with that from the factory!
