Lyrics:
They found her bleeding on the floor.
Her lover’s handprint on the door.
He’ll say his passion drives him mad
I care too much, please take me back again

No matter how they spin it it’s a violent assault
Confusing insecurity with the same need to control.

Why is it so low? Why is it so low?
Insensitive tempo, insensitive tempo,

I hate excuses for their lies
A crime of passion is still a crime you know.
Don’t ever shape your happiness by what they’ll allow
And never dim your light because it makes someone insecure

Why is it so low? Why is it so low?
Insensitive tempo, insensitive tempo,
Why is it so low? Why’s the bar so low?

All the red flags go unchecked when we are taught they’re intimate
Neon red flags glow when we don’t give them weak excuses
That’s when we know how to see what you are.

All we are doing is making excuses for all the cowards in sheepskin suits
All we are doing is making excuses, all we’re doing is making excuses

Are you listening to all their stories? Listening to what we allow in the name of love.

  1. Wow, hail the sun are a treasure. Idk if it’s me but this band ages like fine wine not only that but the messages they tell are needed to be told. They’re in a league of their own. This is a masterclass just wow

  2. the album is so good 10/10. im not hail the sun fan, but listening to this album on my stereo system iis perfect, the soundstage, the mixing, the production is perfect, no skip from track 1 to 11. all tracks are flawless

  3. You guys are amazing. I never used to be a person who got introspective over music. But your songs have forced that, in the best possible way. You always give me something to think about.

  4. Though I understand (And very much love) the premise of the song, I can’t quite figure out why the main lyrical hook + name is “Insensitive tempo”

My guess is that in a lot of “tragic” love songs that involve partners doing abusive things: lashing out, harming their partners, closing them off from the outside world, they’re usually slow songs. Which are more often than not meant for actual love songs, so giving songs about abuse a slow, love-like tempo would be inconsiderate to the songs—for lack of a better word—victims. Or, as Hail The Sun says: insensitive. Someone tell me if I’m hitting the nail at least close, cause I could be very wrong.

  5. I can't believe this has 190k views, yet only 631 likes and 49 comments. A beautiful example of songwriting and storytelling deserves so much more love and appreciation.

Please never stop doing what you're doing HTS 💚

  6. As a child of DV (my mother) and then victim of same abuser (CSA and CA), I always asked why she never left. I realized it was more than just leaving — it was a woman in her 20s, trying to take of three kids with a full time job and little help, with a man who hurts her and uses her with less respect than a toy.
The best prevention is by knowing you deserve more before them, during them and after. It's knowing the signs (no matter how small) and avoiding them having too much of your dependency until proven otherwise. It's having a system that helps women feel safe to leave as right now, what we have isn't enough.

Thank you for adding a reminder on this. For any reading that are parents, kids know a lot more than you think and if you ever end up in that situation, we already know. And it may already be happening to them. Sadly, my mom never got help when I told her about mine… but sometimes.. I think me telling her was a dream.
To think, a suffering kindergartener could dream of crying to their mom. I hope this on nobody.

  7. Guys, I am, at this point, just in love with your music. Every album I think, it can not get even better, it is impossible. I don’t have words to describe how wrong I am every time

I am just so happy you find your deserved success in doing what you love. Thank you
