36 thoughts on “Where Did The OG Strains Go?

  1. Candy Fumez is a newer variety that strikes a really nice balance between the candy and gas profiles. I've seen it on the legal market and I can get behind something like that but man do I miss the original diesels and OGs from the early-mid 2000's 😢

  2. Two strains from back in my black market heyday really stick out in my mind. L.A. Confidential and Herojuana. I haven't seen any bud like those two varieties on the legal market. Those two were phenomenal. Also had a cut of Lavender Trainwreck that was the epitome of designer weed.

  3. i’m not sorry but i cannot stand the piney terps from SFV OG an it seems like all the ogs from like 2021-now has that taste 😒 hard to come buy the gassier og or even bubba

  4. All of those genetics are still around. The problem is is we got these younger generation who hasn't even really seen fire herb. I called them the blackberry Kush kids lol it looked so fire, but had no legs. OG ,Chem and Sour are still around in select groups of people who appreciate Quality over this weeks's candy flavor

  5. The BEST weed was back when it was JUST medical not recreational. I remember around 2010 buying 25$ grams of Mars OG and Banana OG Kush.

That Mars OG from 2010 was THE BEST OG representation ive ever had the privilege to smoke. Sticky dank bud! Not all dry and crumbly like all weed in shops nowadays.

The best weed I ever had tho was actually MnM cookies tho by a rapper Mally Mall. 30$ a gram back in 2013. Before recreational but it was packaged like modern weed in glass with lil box.

  6. I absolutely love Runtz . Its an amazing strain all around. . If people are looking for OG , mikes OG from phinest is a great strain. Elemental wellness has a great OG in-house strain as well. Its pretty awesome.

  7. White Widow has been the best since the 90's. It's still the best IMO if you get that OG flower genetics. I see white widow labeled as sativa, hybrid, and indica. It is as a very good hybrid in the 90's, and still great. I just don't see why it's being sold as an indica or sativa

  8. I remember the U2, used to get it from Garden of Eden in Castro Valley.
Its not Nostalgia, the Prop 215 Cannabis was so much better.
The OG started to die off when with all the weird hayish cuts like Skywalker/Mars/Ghost/Church/etc. hit the scene.
Remember how GDP/Urkle died with all the weak Purple crosses too.
Really miss the Bubba/MasterKush/LaConfidential/PureKush flavor profiles.
Of all the newish strains still think Tangie and Cherry Pie are elite.

  9. I ran 2 different cuts of Skywalker OG back in 2020 that my mentor brought from CO, one absolutely without a doubt was a good cut of OG. The other looked better did better weight wise, but the terp profile was not as strong and it wasnt near as potent as the uglier cut. Had more gas to the terp profile than other OG's ive had. I think most people's idea of OG is what OGKB is, but to me the OGKB has way more of a tennis ball terp, that I didn't get it the bags I was seeing in 2014-2015. Back then it was way more earthy gas with a pine undertone. I was very fortunate to have a good source of it back then considering Im in Oklahoma, it came expensive at 120/7 with no price breaks on bulk. Was so much stronger than anything else i could get back then. I also came across bubba several times back then and it always got me excited, i knew it had the kick i was looking for and the flavor to match. In 2022 a buddy of mine hunted a TK x Blockberry pack, he found one that had the closest Ive seen to the OG i seen back in the day, had the lime green color of the TK, and the earthy pine gas terp profile was all there. Loved smoking and growing her but we didnt ever grow much as we were running the candy hype strains mostly. I still have half the pack of seeds my buddy found that, he gifted it to me knowing how much i loved the cut he found.

  10. It's up to us small growers to keep the old dreams alive. I just harvested some OG KushxBerries. Super frosty. My friend took one of my strains and added Wedding Cake to it. And it smells like fresh coffee grounds. Another strain I just made called Zert smells just like strawberry yogurt.

  11. I just moved to Ohio from the west coast and come to find out Josh D is partnered with a Midwest company called Clutch. Let me tell you Clutch is as top tier as it comes and Joshes cuts are insane and he even droppped his OG
