Last year, I hunted the best CBD strains I could find and what resulted was an almost pure CBD phenotype that was lab tested and verified to have less than 1% THC. Several of these were shared to help medical patients with pain relief and this grow journal documents my buddy SgtDog who used CBD to treat cancer. He grew out normally but on day 42, one of the 4 girls started flowering automatically. Since the mother was a photoperiod, this meant that she had to be recessive for the ruderalis gene which is commonly known as autoflower. Statistically, it would mean that one in every four seeds would be auto which is consistent with the percentages in this grow which is 3 photoperiods and one auto. Now this strain proved to be extremely consistent in both my pheno hunt and this. When a strain has extremely low variance, it is considered a stable strain and knowing this, we could now attribute all of visible differences in expressions of the autoflower plant to the autoflower trait when compared to photoperiods. To my knowledge, this would be the first documented genetically identical autoflower and photoperiods comparison.

  1. Not saying autos all suck(most of them do) but photoperiods are superior in every aspect aside from speed in my experience. If you get offended by this comment, grow up and just agree to disagree.

  2. I’m only 2 years into growing and so far so I’m not super experienced yet a lot to learn but, I’ve only had luck with autos coming out with the best smoke. I really don’t know why because they definitely are more finiky and easy to screw up but I just let them do there thing and leave them alone and lolipop them week one or so of flower and I get amazing results with autos. Maybe this opinion will change after this batch of cookies photos are sent into flower

  3. I tried Auto Skywalker Haze from Dutch Passion and maaan the high was way too powerful (around 26%) than any other photos i tried before. Another one that deserves a spotlight is SFV OG Auto!

  4. I found this to be fascinating! Loved this video!! I have an Auto that I always have at least one growing of, and it is the Strawberry Banana Auto from Grower's Choice Seeds. It was advertised as being a Cannabis Cup Winner, so I bought some to try out and instantly fell in love with it. It is by far my favorite and most commented on strain I have had in my procession. I would put it up there with any photoperiod I have smoked, no BS!

  5. Variety is king… I've grown fire autos and won't grow them again because why would you? So many to choose from with such a small grow window. I've had phots grow for 4 months and then hermaphrodite…talk about a let down.

  6. Thinking about joining the discord but curious to know if its going to work the way im thinking or does it operate differently. Comments here is our only way to communicate?

  7. sangria 20 20 Mendocino one of many for me that have ben as good as photos. I can honestly say I've had top photo breeders that the top auto flower breeders compete with easy IMO. there are some that dont hit and more of them that dont hit than the photos for sure.

  8. Great explanation of something I have suspected for a while.
I was sure it wasn't something with the way the plants are grown, but Auto never seems to form dense solid buds and was always much lankier with a less desirable effect.

  9. Very interesting information in this vid, thank you. Makes sense why people use CO2 and more intense light during flowering stages for photos. Very good food for thought.

  10. I would preach that good genetics done in coco or rockwool, would absolutely go toe to toe with a photo.. I've had multiple 1lb autos finish in 90-105ish days.. they're just much more delicate with stress events and need more attention.

  11. i think autos got upper hand for small space home growers (like 2×2). You can veg and flower in the same tent which makes it easy to do perpetual grow. I can recommend fastbuds, great genetics, their autos wins prizes consistently. Their gorilla cookies is just bulletproof even for beginners. Are they the best I ever had ? Probably not, but its not that much far off, and it's the best solution if you can have only 1 tent imo

  12. Autos are the same as Photo, its all about the genetics. Mephisto and 420Fastbudz have some amazing 1s.. M-Wedding and Sour Stomper.

  13. A specific pheno of Barneys farm wedding cake auto has the perfect effects , total relaxation of mind body and soul . Like a euphoric reset of every problem you got without being drowsy at all . Only problem is , it only lasts 45 minutes .

  14. a real good auto flower , that really stands out in smoke for me was and is Auto Mokums Tulip, fantastic autoflower, good yield, fantastic taste , good high

  15. Good Video, I haven't grown Photoperiod plants yet. Ive accumulated so many Auto seeds. Dont have time for all of them. Really want to try some Photos for my winter run in my tent.
