4. Been following this car for a long time and it never fails to impress. It’s the perfect example of trials and tribulations and the never fading love for a object that devours your pockets. I too have an 01 IS300 that was my first car in high school and there’s absolutely no way I can image getting rid of it.

5. I built a wild motor blew it up about 4 times learning what it takes to keep a race motor together. Going on 3 years strong now learned alot along the way. Installed motor in a day and blew it within a week the first time.

6. I’ve owned 3 IS300s , by far my favorite car I’ve owned. And I’ve also put 3 Engines in my IS250 driving it like an IS-F 😅

8. 4k is a steal for a 1JZ vvti and R154…. Back in the day, I paid 4.5k for a Supra V160 Getrag 6 speed. I thought that was a good deal too. Another 1k would have also snagged a BO3B differential. Should have taken that too. Sigh.

17. Be harder pressed to find a nicer guy then Henry. Got lucky enough to meet him at the shop when my car was being built and he became a member of my friend/family group pretty much immediately.

    Been lucky to talk to him through this process and I’m glad he’s getting the joy that he has worked for and deserves. Looking forward to him bringing it down to Florida so we can cruise lol 😂

24. Not many kids can say they had a car in high school. Your parents must be well off. I dropped out of high school so I could get a job to help my dad take care of my sick mother and to help pay the bills.(help pay the electricity bill, put food in the refrigerator for me and my brother, buy drinking water, buy salt and hydrogen peroxide for the water system because we had well water and various other necessities) that would have been cool to be able to have my own car to modify but I didn't have that option. Instead I would borrow my grandma's car because she really didn't drive much to get back and forth to work and go shopping and what not. But yeah, cool story bro.

35. The American version of the mighty Altezza. Great car! When these first launched, a friend who worked at a Lexus dealership invited me to come check it out, and we took it for a test drive. He had been one of my driving instructors at an SCCA school, and he suggested that I "let it out a bit". That was all the encouragement I needed, so I proceeded to drift it around a few corners. Ah…I can still hear his words of encouragement and praise: "DON'T STUFF IT…DON'T STUFF IT!" Priceless. 😄

39. This hits home for me. I just got my Dakota on the street, it's junkyard parts and drives like a brick…. but every time I get in it the 12 year old in me is having the time of his life. These cars are so much more than metal and I wouldn't trade mine for anything either.

44. I'm in my 30s and still want an IS200-300, especially the Sportwagon. Manual swap, some mods, etc, all cool cars. Honestly, I love Lexus, especially the 00s cars, but even more modern ones with the V6s and V8s… great story! Love to see some Japanese car stuff on VinWiki!!
