  1. I served in the navy around the time he did. I have crippling anxiety due to my service. It's rough, and thankfully zoloft exists. I still have alot of highs and lows.

  2. I knew, when I heard the first person talking about mental illness, social security, and rent/mortgages being sky high, that they were a Washingtonian. I'm about to start the dreaded process of trying to get on disability for my chronic pain and mental illnesses.
To the first caller, I am not a vet, but everything else that you talked about, I totally relate. I also have a partner. I feel badly about not being able to work, while my wife who is twice my age(but VERY healthy and doesn't look her age[which doesn't matter], works two part time jobs to support us. And we can't get married before I figure out things with social security because I could lose my health insurance. I understand feeling a sense of shame and guilt for not being able to provide for your family. If you ever see this, I hope that things are looking up for you. At least the sun is finally starting to make an appearance, and that definitely helps. Sending you a warm hug 🫂
Blessed be to you and yours 🖤🖤

  3. i saw a tiktok the other day of a schizophrenic guy with a service dog- it was trained to greet people when they arrived. But if the guy said "greet" and the dog didnt respond he'd be able to tell that "oh I'm seeing a hallucination right now" so it helped him differentiate

  4. You can get employment from food delivery apps, if you can drive and afford a car then you can make money every day as much as you want to work and you can self-motivate yourself.

  5. John, thanks for your service. I can relate to you even though I'm not former or currently military. I love Eraserhead too. I think stuff like that can really help to understand and tame the noise even if it sounds crazy. Keep on keeping on brother.

  6. He not schizophrenic whatsoever all the submarine guys get told they have schizophrenia EVERY one. It’s a 100% the exact same over and over they give them extensive psychological evaluations so he is 100% ok they just discredited him that’s what they do to everyone. Sorry bro military sucks.

  7. Tip for people in the US: Most areas have libraries within walking distance, and/or community/career centers for your city/county, and they have printers and fax machines you can use for various needs usually for free or cheap. Most should still have computers for those who can't afford computers to use for free.

  8. Way back in the 70s I had a brother n law ..Pat…and to my young self the guy was really impressive!! Not just submariner…he was on nuclear ships….the Right Stuff!! When he didnt reinlist we thought it was to be home more with her and their baby. But soon things started going south. Hed take a new job…..master it!!
Sold Life Ins. Was so good he was winning them Vacation bonuses!! But!! Then hed quit !! Start again….wash ,rinse, repeat. Each time he got a little more erratic until he was diagnosed full blown schizophrenia….. Heres the thing. Before they seal you in a tube with 85 other dudes And nuclear weapons…they reall look you over….completely!! It always made me wonder…was his illness just deep seated…or did that time Do something to him.
    Now…heres another guy …

  9. I disagree about the fart in the jar thing I think it’s totally possible if you got a pretty heavy fart concentration and trapped it in a jar like the residual bacteria would build up and potentially ferment the gas

  10. Millions of illegals using a limited housing supply and he says “must be some malignant monopoly raising prices.” I want to educate you all. Not only are landlords looking to charge as much money as possible as it is but when you allow millions of illegals into the population they also take what limited housing is available and that drives prices up insanely fast. Remember prices didn’t go absolutely crazy until Biden opened the border and ended the remain in Mexico policy for asylum seekers.

  11. This guy is a strong, able-bodied, young man with a mental illness that is properly and effectively being treated. He’s basically scamming the government for disability at this point! The worst part is the hypocrisy…

Geck: “You’re a sweet guy John, always giving back to the community.”

John: “haha yup, no handouts though!”

Dude, your entire income is a handout from the FED. Get real!

  12. I watched Inland Empire with a schizophrenic guy, he had his head down and he was smiling and talking/whispering to himself behind his long hair. He was more entertaining than the movie but schizophrenics love Lynch. Wonder why 😉

  13. I'm not saying he should work or do anything at all… if he is struggling and needs the social security and wants to live that way it's perfectly okay… but Social Security is not the the one causing him to live in a box.

They aren't the ones who decide what he can and can't do. They are just responding to what he is demonstrating. He could tell them "hey, I'm feeling better and can handle more", "I want to do this better job". He could show them by how well he handles whatever job he's "allowed" to have. And of course they are going to start paying him less because he is stepping into being more independent and not in need of their help.

And I totally don't blame him for not doing that. I've been doing something similar for years. Everyone should be unconditionally supported and free do to as much of as little as they want. I would only encourage him to do what makes him happy.

I'm just saying he is free to take those actions and to not be defined by his diagnosis. Social security will stop treating him like he's disabled as soon as ~he~ does. I don't know how hard that must feel to do with schizophrenia. I did have my own mental health crisis, though, and all my symptoms went away the more I chose to believe in the healthy version of myself and act that way. I'm willing to bet schizophrenia gets better the more you live your authentic life. Every day happiness, little by little, will heal and integrate those scattered pieces of psyche, and bring them home.

Edit: I kept listening and it sounds like he's doing his thing.

  14. This has been a great episode. John is my age and he seems so much wiser and I'm proud of him for being such a good person despite the hard times he has had. Best of luck to the husband, I'm sure he is better for those kids than his wife, and he is going to need a lot of patience to pull his plan off.
