The photo of Sterling Martin, in the cockpit of his car, drinking a cuppa…classic!❤
I had know the history of the events portrayed in the film prior to seeing it in the theatre. How it was handled and depicted was mind blowing, I didn't even think the crash would have been shown in the way it was. Similarly I cannot imaging a film will ever show the 1955 Le Mans horror.
But hearing the audience react in an honest and visceral way, the gasps and even one woman weeping – I could hear/feel them thinking "I had no idea, I cannot believe this actually happened. How can these events have happened?" …is all a testament to the filmmaking prowess of everyone involved.
A lot of people comment on the pour cgi, personally i feel its such a small part of the movie its irrelevant.
Sterling Moss. First Lotus F1 winner in an 18, Watkins Glen.
Too bad they couldn’t make the rest of the movie any good.
The telegraph pole but does look fake. Nice when your visual instincts are backed up. Interesting insight though.
😂
👎
I agree on the PlayStation comment. Spend all that time making a beautiful practical and then make it all appear like its all CGI. Cartoony stuff takes me out.
Stirling Moss on modern F1 “Today after a race they chase sponsors, in my day we chased the crumpet”
This Guy is all over my YouTube
Given how bad these look, I was sure they were (cheap) CGI
Ben is such an awesome guy i can't imagine how it was to go 10-12 years without being able to talk about being the stig
11:03
Amazing stunt, too bad they replaced the car with (rather substandard) CGI in postproduction.
This guy has the same diet as clarkson? He tilts his head forward to burp in mid sentence just like clarkson does.
The visuals of the movie were deplorable. Took me out of it entirely. The shaky cam at highway speeds + CGI quality levels not seen since the Scorpion King were high school level bad.
DAFTA!
or is it
Bafta?
The crash CGI ruined the scene. Fast and furious video game stuff. Why did they even do a real crash…then CGI it…utterly ridiculously fake..STUPID..SMMFH???
11:20, that point of the car hitting the pole still looks out of place, it doesn't fit visually.
Fascinating to hear Ben speaking about Stirling. Ben is a proper fella. Makes you realise what a bunch of clowns the top gear lot are.
I once had to film a plane landing, with a camera on the runway angled up at 30 degrees. Asked the pilot to try hit the camera with the front wheel … first try he hit the camera dead centre and destroyed it.
Next take I asked him to try just missing the camera.
Never underestimate an experts ability to do exactly what you ask them to.
Such an honor having the Stig in the chair!
Top notch as always from VINwiki! When will we see Rob Pitts again, amazing storyteller.
I could listen to Ben and Randy P all day!!
Patrick Demsey was his own stunt driver
The CGI was awful in this film
Ben is an international asset. Protect this man at all costs
Hey, Ed! Who's next? Richard Hammond? That would be great!
ONE of the Stigs.
Still pretty cool.
The late great Fangio, Truly a badass. My dad had some older F1 videos and back then it was nuts.
I made it to 3:32 and was so bored I left.
Didn't the early cars have locked differentials? Making turning fast, forcing a mandatory slight drift? 🤔 Didn't a Pixar Character speak on the issue of to go fast Sometimes, you must turn left?
That last crash looks sooo bad. Car crashing into the concrete marker and then a second later started flying off into the air, cuts to a very cheap looking CGI
Waht were they thinking 😬
Bolt on beard lol
Using Caterham chassis was sheer brilliance on the part of the producers of the movie.
B4 I C This… Wife ❤Story. I was told STOP picking apart the cars! Now I watch.
Best to you Scott🏁
Sorry but, that Ferrari movie was fake… Cars were odd and they didn't do it.
I wonder if it's possible to get a copy of those shells.. they'd make a lovely Sunday runabout.
It's a bit of a pity that the crash at the beginning, on the test track and in the mille miglia looked a bit too.. Hollywood.
They were a bit too over exaggerated in my opinion.
I like the story of Stirling Moss at Bathurst whilst he was chatting up a pretty nurse when a wombat ran out of the darkness and took Stirling’s legs out from under him.
STIGGY!!!!!
Looking at his face after a race makes you wonder what his lungs looked like. Throw some cigs on top of that and damn I mean damn.
