4. I once said to a trooper "I'm sorry about my speed but I was on my way to the Hospital.." He asked what the problem was, and I responded, "I have to get this lead removed from my foot." He laughed and let me go.

5. I was pulled over by an senior office a few years ago for a bad left turn. It is a good pull over. When asked for insurance & registration I informed the office it was in the glove box. He asked if there was anything in the glove box to be concerned about. I responded "Jimmy Hoffa" and was left off with a warming. Light hearted and humor can never hurt.

7. My dad was in the Marines back in the 60s when one of his buddies got pulled over in a VW Bug doing over 100. The cop said, “If I go back saying I wrote a ticket for this car going that fast, I’ll get laughed at. Can I at least see the engine?” No ticket.

10. One of my best friends is from Florida and he moved to Indiana after he got out of jail. He was in jail because he had a camaro (this was in '96) that he had put a corvette engine and other mods into and he was going 160 on the highway.

    The cop that he passed didnt even bother trying to catch him, they put up a roadblock way up the road and he got arrested at gunpoint like in the movies.

    Impounded his car and by the time he got out of jail, a few months later, his license was gone and he owed almost $10k just in storage and towing fees to get his car out.

    He moved here and got a job that he could walk to with support from his dad and even 3 years later wasnt able to get an Indiana license because he still owed for his ticket back in Florida.

    I am doubting the cop would be so forgiving in this story. That sort of speed is a hazard on the road and is just enabling someone to get away with driving in ways that can kill someone else. Easily.

12. The other guitarist in our band was driving home a little too fast after rehearsal one night and got pulled over.
    The cop asked him why he was going so fast and he gestured toward the passenger seat and said, "My wife overdosed on weight loss pills and I'm trying to get her to the hospital!"
    The cop shined his flashlight into the passenger seat, which was empty, and said, "There's nobody over there, sir."
    At that point, David screamed, "Oh, my GOD! It's too late!"
    The cop busted out laughing, gave him a warning to slow down and let him go.

    – for reference I was out running a convoy of 6-7 semi trucks on a congested highway got clocked doing 126 in a 75 🎉 I told him I didn’t want to be scrambled eggs because of reckless semi driving and he was my better option 👍 it worked 🤷🏻‍♀️

38. Florida cops aren't bad at all. Just the state troopers, but the regular cops are usually super cool and not out to get anyone.

39. i live in the uk i had a similar event happen on my way home at 3am was a bmw 5 series pulled up behind me and he was moving so i dropped a cog and went for it , he put his blue lights on i stopped he said do you know why i stopped you, me being tired and feeling sarcastic replied because you was losing, he laughed and let me go told me to slow down
